Barbarian Subclass:

Path of the Meteor

"They say it was a spectacular show of lights, as if a meteor had come down and was dashing across the battlefield. The earth quaked and the mountains shook as this individual brought down the very might of the heavens upon their enemies. The result of which can still be seen, look at these craters, and the bodies around it...No ordinary person did this...at least, not one from this world..."

--Investigator's report on the site of a massacre.

Barbarians who follow the Path of the Meteor harness the raw power of gravity itself, using their own mass and momentum as weapons. These warriors crash into battle like celestial bodies, shifting their density at will to either become light and fast or heavy and immovable. With each step, they shape the battlefield, pulling enemies into their orbit before delivering devastating, high-impact strikes.

10th Seismic Impact
14th Comet's Flight

Variable Density

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can manipulate your own mass to gain unique advantages in battle. When you use your bonus action to start your rage or renew it, you choose to increase or decrease your density, gaining a number of effects.

Low Density Mode.

  • Your weight is halved.
  • Your speed increases by 10 feet and jump height and distance are tripled.
  • You can move through enemy spaces without treating them as difficult terrain, and your movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

High Density Mode.

  • Your weight is doubled.
  • You gain immunity to push and pull effects.
  • Enemies within 20 feet of you must spend twice as much movement to move away from you, but only half as much movement to move toward you.

These effects lasts until your rage ends or when you switch between modes.

Meteor Strike

Also starting at 3rd level, your momentum fuels your strikes, turning movement into raw power.

While you are Raging, if you move at least 10 feet or fall before making a melee weapon attack, your attack deals additional force damage equal to 1d6 per 10 feet moved or fallen (maximum number of d6s equal to your proficiency bonus). If you hit a creature directly after falling, you ignore fall damage from that descent.

The damage die increases as you gain levels in this class: 1d8 at 6th level, 1d10 at 12th level, and 1d12 at 17th level.

Singularity Field

Starting at 6th level, your control over gravity extends to the space aorund you, allowing you manipulate it with ease.

  • While raging, you ignore the Heavy and Two handed properties of melee weapons.
  • Whenever you hit with a reckless attack, you can activate the Slow property in addition to any other Mastery property you are using with that weapon.
  • When you or a creature within 20 feet of you falls, you can use your reaction to slow their descent. Choose a number of falling creatures up to your proficiency bonus within range. Their falling speed is reduced to 60 feet per round until they land safely.

Seismic Impact

Starting at 10th level, your falls create devastating shockwaves, crushing foes beneath your impact.

If you fall at least 25 feet, you create a shock-wave upon impact, hitting all creatures within 15 feet of the initial target. Each creature must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier). On a failed save, a creature takes the attack's damage and is knocked prone. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and remains standing.

Additionally, if you are in High Density Mode, the radius of this impact increases to 25 feet.

Comet's Flight

Starting at 14th level, you master gravity itself, moving through the air like a comet.

As an action, you can expend a use of your rage to grant yourself a flying speed equal to your movement speed for 1 minute.

When you use this flying speed to move, you can choose up to 2 willing creatures that are within 15ft of you to move with you. A creature moved this way that is not on solid ground at the end of your movement will start to fall.

Additionally, if you are in Low Density Mode, this flying speed is doubled.
