Warlock Pact

Pact of the Aegis

Your patron has granted you a special shield, using its powers to enhance your defense and your ability to protect your allies. You receive a pact shield, which functions as a normal shield, with a form and appearance appropriate to your patron. In addition, you gain proficiency with medium armor, heavy armor, and shields.

You can use your pact shield as a melee weapon, dealing bludgeoning damage equal to 1d8 + your Strength modifier on a hit. If your shield gets a magic bonus to its AC, you can apply that bonus to your attack and damage rolls with it. Your pact shield is always considered magical for the purpose of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical attacks.

When you reach 5th level in this class, you can attack with your pact shield twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

You can transform an existing shield into your pact shield by performing a special ritual over the course of 10 minutes while you hold it. It ceases to be your pact shield if you die, if you perform the ritual again on a different shield, or if you choose to break your bond to it.

Invocations

Ally's Aegis

Prerequisite: Pact of the Aegis

Your mighty shield helps protect all those around you. You and every allied creature within 5 feet of you gain a +1 bonus to AC and saving throws.

Eldritch Bash

Prerequisite: Pact of the Aegis

Your patron empowers your shield to punish your foes. You can now use your pact shield as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells. In addition, once per turn when you hit an enemy with it, you can apply the non-damaging effects of any warlock cantrip you know.

Empowered Bash

Prerequisite: Pact of the Aegis

When you attack with your pact shield, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength, for the attack and damage rolls.

Whirling Aegis

Prerequisite: Pact of the Aegis

Your pact shield gains the Thrown (30/60) property. After you make a ranged attack by throwing your shield, it returns to you.

If you are able to make multiple attacks when you take the Attack action, you can make subsequent attacks by ricocheting the shield off earlier targets. When you you hit with a ranged attack with a thrown shield, you can make your next attack with the shield on the same turn as a ricochet attack, with the following properties:

  • A ricochet attack must target a different creature than the prior attack.
  • A ricochet attack's range is determined from the location of the prior attack's target.
  • A ricochet attack deals 1d8 additional bludgeoning damage.

Reflected Agony

Prerequisites: 12th level, Pact of the Aegis

As a reaction when an enemy makes a melee attack against you, you can retaliate with a shield strike, making an attack with your pact shield. You gain an additional reaction, which you can only use for this feature.

Pact of the Aegis

For the Omega Warlock, a warlock revision that turns pacts into proper subclasses.

The Pact of the Aegis turns a warlock into an indomitable wall, empowering them with an eldritch shield from their patron. It turns a warlock into a front-line warrior, interposing themselves against threats and dispatching those foes with eldritch force.

Your pact shield is always considered magical for the purpose of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical attacks.

In addition, your pact shield gains the Thrown (30/60) property. After you make a ranged attack by throwing your shield, it returns to you.

At 3rd level, your patron empowers your shield to punish your foes. You can now use your pact shield as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells. In addition, once per turn when you hit an enemy with it, you can select one warlock cantrip you know. The attack's damage type is changed to a damage type dealt by the cantrip, and the attack applies all of the cantrip's non-damaging effects.

Ricochet Attack

At 9th level, you learn to ricochet your spinning shield between targets. When you you hit with a ranged attack with a thrown shield, you can make your next attack with the shield on the same turn as a ricochet attack, with the following properties:
