# Ancestry: Chiropteran
___ Chiropterans are amalgamations of bats and elves. They were originally created by the Drow by a magical experiment with bats gone horribly wrong, resulting in their forms merging into one single being. Initially a small group, the Chiropterans were exiled into the wild caves of the Underdark, where they slowly developed small tribes comprised of single families. Chiropterans appear to be humanoids with bat-like features, such as big, pointed ears, fur, and wings attached along their arms. Their fur is either brown, grey, or black. Their eyes are solid black, sometimes with tinges of brown. ### Chiropteran Traits **Ability Score Increase.** One ability score of your choice increases by 2, and another by 1, to a maximum of 20. ___ **Age.** Chiropterans mature at 30, and live to be around 150 years old. ___ **Alignment.** ___ **Creature Type.** You are a Humanoid. You are also considered a Monstrosity for any prerequisite or effect that requires you to be a Monstrosity. ___ **Size.** Chiropterans are between 5 to 6 feet tall with lean builds. Your size is Medium. ___ **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 20 feet. ___ **Bat Wings.** Because of your wings, you have a 30 foot flying speed. You can't use this flying speed if you're wearing medium or heavy armor. Because your wings are attached to your arms, you can't wear armor unless it is made to accommodate them. ___ **Echolocation.** As a bonus action, you can let out a loud screech, which can be heard up to 60 feet away. Until the start of your next turn, you have 60 feet of Blindsight. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn't behind total cover, even if you're blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you. ___ Once you use this trait, you must complete a short or long rest to do so again. ___ **Night Hunter.** You have proficiency in the Survival skill. ___ **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice. \columnbreak
