Ancestry: Carved

Hidden among statues in graveyards, temples, and castles are the Carved, statues given life after being exposed to the power of spirits and necromancy. These beings are exceedingly rare and secretive, and when two manage to find another Carved, they form small communities.

Although the Carved are formed of solid materials (usually stone), they still require sustenance in the form of souls. To safely consume souls without alerting other creatures, the Carved have evolved to stand incredibly still, then suddenly sprint when their prey leasts expects it. The Carved can move so quickly that other creatures describe them teleporting rather than moving.

Carved appear as humanoids made of stone, marble, obsidian, or some other solid material. Despite being made of completely solid material, their movement isn't restricted, but they make scraping sounds when they move.

In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, after which you must complete a long rest to do so again.
