Ancestry: Lupin

Lupin are canine humanoids known for their dedication and loyalty, both to themselves and others. Lupin are humble protectors and intelligent crafters, seeking to directly better the world with their skills, but not always knowing how. They often integrate into most societies across the world with ease alongside their immediate families, which usually consist of four to six individuals. While the true origin of the Lupin remains unknown, some theorize that they were originally created through the union of Humans and Gnolls, whom developed into their own people over many generations.

Early Lupins turned to werewolf hunting to prove to fearful human neighbors that they indeed were not werewolves themselves. Over time, this hunting became tradition, becoming a rite of passage for young Lupin to learn to hunt, even for those who have lived in cities their whole lives.

Lupin appear as humanoids with fur and canine heads. Their fur can be anywhere from short to shaggy. Their eyes are often darker colors, and their fur in shades of black, brown, white, and sand yellow.

Heritage: Khenra

The Khenra are a tall and lean subset of Lupin with graceful bodies and heads that strongly resemble jackals. Their snouts are long and sharp, and their angular ears rise straight above their heads. Their bodies are covered in dark, sleek hair that ranges from the brown of the desert sands to ebony black. Despite their sharp teeth, they consider biting to be an uncouth and unworthy combat tactic.

Nearly every khenra is born a fraternal or identical twin, and a pair of khenra twins forms an extremely close emotional bond unknown to most other residents of the world. The death of one twin causes a tremendous shock to the survivor, who typically grows more aggressive and foolhardy in battle. Some rare Khenra are born without twins, and are believed to have killed their siblings in the womb.

Khenra Twins. If your twin is alive and you can see your twin, whenever you roll an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you add a +1 to the roll. If your twin is dead, you can't see them, or if you were born without a twin, you can’t be Frightened.

Heritage: Wildhound

The Wildhound are Lupin that inhabit the wild lands of the world. They might have left behind the civilized world or were born outside it, but are adapted to their environment nonetheless. The Wildhound are often mistaken for werewolves, despite their higher intelligence and self control, and thus they still regularly practice the hunting of werewolves to this day with their clans. When evidence for such a creature is found, the Wildhounds will surely be close behind searching for it.

Wildhounds appear similar to wild canines, with thicker fur and either wolf or fox heads. Their fur is often black, brown, or silver, and their eyes blue, white, or yellow.

Civildogs are most similar to domestic dogs, but often have the facial features and heads of mastiff and shepherd dogs. Their fur and eye color ranges the most among Lupin, in shades of grey, brown, and orange.
