# Prestige Ancestry: Dreamseer
___ Blossoming in all different kinds of people is a strange connection to the sleeping world, an affinity with dreams- not their own, but with the dreams of others. What exactly causes someone to become a Dreamseer isn't known- the union of two Dreamseer doesn't guarantee their child will carry their power, many magics can't replicate the effects, and even wishing upon deities may not cause the connection to dreams to manifest. Dreamseer treat their rare, seemingly randomly given power with respect, and are often seen as wise, spiritual people with great compassion for others, having seen and shared the dreams of others around them. ___ A Dreamseer's true nature is typically revealed around teenage or young adulthood, as their eyes suddenly start faintly glowing, they begin seeing the dreams of others in their sleep, and witness others' daydreams. They lose the ability to dream from their own mind, but gain an innate psychic power to see and manipulate others'. ### Prestige The Dreamseer is a Prestige Ancestry. It can be taken after character creation at any point when you would receive a Feat in place of taking a regular Feat. A character must meet the following prerequisites to do so: - You must have an Intelligence score of 15 or higher. - You must have 30 or more hit points. - You must have a Common or Uncommon Ancestry - You can't already have a Prestige Ancestry. ___ Your DM might allow you to ignore one or more of these prerequisites, and may allow you to take this Prestige ancestry at 1st level. ___ Regardless of when you gain this ancestry, its features modify or add onto your base ancestry's. If a feature is present on both the prestige ancestry and the base ancestry, you take the version of the feature in the prestige ancestry unless specified otherwise. If your DM allows you to gain more than one prestige ancestry, you use the newest version of any feature it has that you previously gained. ### Dreamseer Traits **Nightmare Exposure.** You have resistance to Psychic damage. ___ **Dual Mind.** When you make a Wisdom saving throw, you can use your reaction to gain advantage on the roll. You can use this trait immediately before or after you roll, but before any of the roll's effects occur. \columnbreak **Severed from Dreams.** Dreamseekers sleep, but don’t dream as other creatures do. You are immune to spells and other effects that require you to dream, like the *Dream* spell, but not to spells and effects that put you to sleep, like the *Sleep* spell, unless you are immune by other means. ___ **Inspired by Others.** When you long rest within 60ft of a friendly creature, you share in its dream, temporarily gaining one skill proficiency that creature has. The dream might relate to the skill you learn, such as witnessing that creature perform a grand symphony for Performance, or lift a mountain for Athletics. Even if it wouldn't normally make sense, your mind makes it so. Skill proficiencies gained in this way last until you complete a long rest.
