While many Druids find the ability to shape into the forms to be an elementary part of their studies, there is one circle that has taken a decidedly more unorthodox approach. Known as the Circle of the Devourer (or, more uncommonly, "Blue Druids"), these Druids are known for consuming the flesh of beasts and assimilating it into their own bodies, granting themselves fragments of the creatures' power.
Devourer Origins
d6 | Origin |
---|---|
1 | You've found the traditional shapeshifting of the Druid to be far too limited, and wish to expand your horizons. |
2 | Inches from death, a medic tried to heal you with the flesh of a dragon, transforming you and giving you a craving for more. |
3 | A novice adventurer, you were swallowed by one too many monsters, and vowed to become the devourer instead of the devoured. |
4 | An accident while wild shaping fused you with a bag of devouring, and its hunger has overtaken you. |
5 | Your sect of the Devourers were inspired by the Chimera, a monster with the traits of various beasts. |
6 | A bite from the undead fills you with a hunger that only flesh can fill. |
Devourer Features
Druid Level | Features |

6th | Expanded Palette |
10th | Nature's Gourmand, Defensive Adaptation |
14th | Quickshift |
Devourer's Maw
2nd-level Circle of the Devourer feature
Your body has been made to eat the flesh of others.
When you choose this Druidic Circle, you have learned to manifest a secondary set of jaws somewhere on your body. Where on your body is up to you; some Druids of this circle choose to manifest it from their own mouth, others on the end of one of their limbs.
The Devourer's Maw is a natural weapon which you are proficient with, uses your Strength or Wisdom modifier to calculate attack and damage rolls, and deals 1d6 piercing damage on a hit. When you damage a creature that isn't a humanoid with Devourer's Maw, you can consume a small piece of their flesh. Any consumed pieces of flesh are digested and destroyed after 8 hours.

Power of the Devoured
2nd-level Circle of the Devourer feature
You have also learned how to manifest the power of those whose flesh you consume, warping your flesh to mimic theirs.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape to transform, using the pieces of flesh from the enemies you consume. Instead of transforming into a beast, you may choose a number of creatures whose flesh you have consumed with your Devourer's Maw in the last 8 hours, up to your Proficiency Bonus; each chosen piece of flesh is destroyed, and for each one, select any one feature of the creature's from the list below to gain:
- One movement speed, choosing the higher option if you choose a movement speed that you already have; you must adhere to the same movement speed limitations that Wild Shape has.
- One damage resistance which you do not already have.
- One condition immunity.
- One sense.
- One action from the creature's statblock that requires an attack roll or a saving throw. If the action has a Recharge, you must also roll the dice to recharge it:
- If the chosen action requires an attack roll, you use your Wisdom modifier to calculate attack and damage rolls, and if the damage dice exceeds an amount equal to your Proficicncy Bonus, you only roll a number up to your PB. If the attack deals additional damage of a different damage type, you only roll 1 additional damage dice of that damage type.
- If the chosen action requires a saving throw, it uses your Druid Spell Save DC; if it deals damage, the number of the action's damage dice it deals is equal to your Proficiency Bonus + half your Wisdom modifier (rounded down).
While transformed in this way, you may use one chosen action(s) (if any) as a bonus action instead of a action. If you do so, you cannot cast a levelled spell on the same turn you've used this feature as a bonus action
You also gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom Modifier times the number of features and/or actions you choose.
This transformation lasts for 1 minute, or until you fall unconscious. You may transform a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and regain all expended uses upon completing a long rest.
Expanded Palate
6th-level Circle of the Devourer feature
You can now consume the flesh of a creature with the Devourer’s Maw that has a challenge rating as high as your druid level divided by 3, rounded down.
In addition, your Devourer’s Maw can now consume the flesh of dragons, undead, and fey.
Defensive Adaptation
10th-level Circle of the Devourer feature
When you use Power of the Devoured, you may choose one of the below features in addition to whichever features you choose normally:
- Adaptive Immunity. You become immune to one of the following damage types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison.
- Magic Resistance. You have advantage on saving throws to resist spells and magical effects.
- Natural Exoskeleton. While transformed, your body manifests a natural armour using the materials of the creatures you consumed. Your Armour Class cannot be lower than 17.
Quickshift
14th-level Circle of the Devourer feature
Your mastery of your form and your Maw allows you to quickly trade flesh for flesh.
Once per turn, if you consume a creature's flesh with your Devourer's Maw while you are transformed through the use of Power of the Devoured, you can immediately take one feature or action of this creature from the list above, replacing another feature or action that you currently have.
