Description

Named for the tribal custom of honing their teeth into sharp, craggy points, Cragmaw goblins live short, savage lives as marauders, plundering homesteads and attacking caravans along the Triboar Trail. Survivors of such raids are often taken as captives for use as labor or sport, before going into the pot when they are of no more use.

Cunning ambushers. Without a significant numeric advantage, Cragmaw goblins rarely engage in melee combat. Instead, their preference is to harry travelers and caravans with ranged attacks from their shortbows. A typical ambush utilizes goblin arrows targeting a pack or draft animal until the beast succumbs to its wounds, leaving riders and cart drivers two choices: guard their stranded cargo under sustained ranged attacks, or abandon their cargo altogether, allowing the goblins plunder the cargo without threat of being attacked.

Opportunistic to a fault. Selfish and quarrelsome where loot is concerned, a Cragmaw goblin will forego up to three rounds of combat in favor of rifling through the gear of a fallen foe, even as a battle rages around them.

Craggy maws. The sharpened teeth of tribal members are not just for show. Cragmaw goblins delight in finishing a grievously wounded foe with a savage bite attack. Any goblin who has yet to taste the blood of a fallen foe is looked upon with derision by other members of the tribe.
