Major Metropolitan Areas in North America and Europe
Chief Officer: Andromeda Gonsonian
Employees: 8,000 Corporate + 40,000 Contractors
Background
Every top of the line service has its knock-off, and REO Meatwagon is to Trauma Team as your worst vendit pistol is to a top of the line iconic. Launching the M-Wagon app in the years after the war has turned the company into a contractor based business. They still offer services akin to Trauma Team for corporate employees or VIPs, but the fleet of aging military hardware is mostly used for Meat jumping Trauma Team or Vulturing emergency response calls for the Body Bank Bounty.
During the war, REO capitalized on Trauma Team's "Citizens First" mentality and arbitrated a "First Call" agreement with both Arasaka and Militech.
- REO was neutral and parties agree to not hold REO responsible for its contracted duty of care.
- As a neutral party, REO would not respond to calls at locations that already had REO crew en route or on site.
- Any military salvage that had expired after being rescued from a battle would incur additional charges for return to their original manufacturer.
This choice heavily militarized REO Meatwagon as they were called in pre-emptively to conflicts around the globe to secure their services for one side or the other. Securing these contracts, as well as ransoming Military Cybertech, sent revenue, profits, and the company stock sky high.
The good times can't last forever though, and the end of the conflict sent the company into turmoil as revenue plummeted. With resources at a premium, Arasaka banished from most of the world stage, and grudges held by Militech and the NUSA the company had no choice but to seek new business overseas and cut costs as much as possible. REO Meatwagon had leveraged its warchest to formalize its satellite offices overseas in Europe and Asia and stabilize the business during the lean post-war years.
FACE
After an almost-constant change in leadership in the years after the war the company's salvation came in 2041 as Andromeda Gonsonian, former Ziggurat CTO, drove an activist investor campaign to install themselves as Chairman.
Andromeda coded some of Ziggurats most effective and efficient modeling and targeting marketing software for Garden pages. After a childhood accident left her with a grudge against Trauma Team, and years of watching REO be mismanaged was too much for her. Using her knowledge of the Garden platform she was able to whip up a Media and Investor fervor to do more with REO Meatwagon.
Andromeda's Tech Culture mentality has largely removed the militarized REO and has instated one of sociopathic data collection and monetization. While the transformation of REOs business is underway she has maintained appearances harassing Trauma Team to not raise suspicion of the new direction for REO.
Andromeda has big plans for REO. So much can be done with medical histories of her users that she will be able to predict their every need. She is convinced that they can take on any industry that catches her fancy. The app was the first step as the private data can now fund the R&D budget for budding Cyberware, Cloning, Medical Technology, and Pharmaceutical subsidiaries hidden in shell corps. All to locked customers into what is actually a single REO Ecosystem and a lifetime of fees.
M-Wagon App
With a free app download the app can provide overly simplified comics on how to perform medical procedures. A DV18 First Aid or DV15 Paramedic check can parse these comics enough to provide a Complimentary Skill Bonus for a procedure the user has never done before. The app offers subscriptions to Wagon and Wagon+ summoning services from your local medical providers. Don't forget to tip! A bad customer rating can impact response times.
Service | Cost | Description |
---|---|---|
Basic Subscription | €$299/ month | You gain the ability to manually summon 2 Wagons per month. No additional wagons. |
Premium Subscription | €$399/ month | You gain the ability to summon 1 Wagon and 2 Wagon+s. |
Service | Cost | Description |
---|---|---|
Wagon | 1 Action | Arrives in 1d10+5 minutes. (This roll can explode). |
Wagon+ | 1 Action | Arrives in 1d6+3 minutes. (This roll can explode). |
Treat M-Wagon and M-Wagon+ as Trauma Team response, but they land further away and are more hesitant to put themselves in the line of fire.
Monday Morning Boardroom
An Interactive Aside to a Cyberpunk Story for use with Cyberpunk Red
Welcome chooms! This is the culmination of an idea sparked by the Listen Up, You Primitive Screwheads!!!! The Unexpected Cyberpunk Referee’s Guide.
As Welcome to Hilaria was a glimpse into your characters meeting each other; this small interlude will provide a glimpse into the early days of the events unfolding in Night City. The Fiscal Budget meeting is a one-shot session that will ask the players to come to an agreement on how REO Meatwagon’s budget will be allocated for the next year. The goal of this crew is to get as many projects funded as possible during turbulent times. This is an impactful and tense budget meeting in the history of the medical services company. This is the first meeting since Andromeda Gonsonian installed herself as the effective dictator of REO, and she has been clear on what she thinks is important to the future of this company. Since every department is starting from 0% funded this is a time to make big swings to capture as much of the remainder as possible.
Andromeda wants to hear the justification for every dollar being spent just in case she can gobble up any more of the budget for herself. You will be playing as one member of the Senior Leadership Team with your personal list of projects that you need to secure funding for. You will receive a list of priority projects, and the budget needed to fund them. How much you get will be up to you. Let’s have some fun and see what sort of machinations will be put in place!
Here are a few ideas on actions you can take to ensure you have secured funding for a project:
- Argue for it from the available budget
- Argue it’s importance over another project
- Sabotage/Expose another project
- Apply a Cover-Up
Monday Morning Boardroom
This will operate in a different type of combat called Monday Morning Boardroom. This mechanical system is meant to provide structure to a form of combat that requires more social skills than combat skills. Run as an interlude it can provide a glimpse onto a rare and powerful part of your setting. The players will quickly learn that no matter what your status is there's never enough money to do everything they want. What's this about? Players should enter the session with the goal of securing maximum funding for themselves, but also working across departments to drive adoption of maximum projects. Your Department Folio will cover some basics about your specialty and cover the projects you must, want, and can fund during this session. Work with your allies or blackmail your enemies into getting your projects across.
The session will end if: 100% funding has been achieved and the CEO has accepted it OR the scheduled session for the game has come to a close. If there is any unallocated budget at the end of the session the CEO will determine its use.
Getting it Done
Monday Morning Boardroom is played much like regular combat. It operates on Initiative Order and Rounds. Your Initiative will be determined by rolling COOL+1d10. Initiative will be re-rolled at the top of every round, and turn order will begin with the lowest initiative. In-between every round there will be two extra phases: Background Task and a Contemplation Phase.
Rounds in MMBR represent 10 minutes of in-game time. During each round you are spending your time supporting, defending, or attacking projects with your Actions. At any point during the main phase (Appropriations and Background Tasks) you may submit a Background Task to the Referee.
Rounds and Turns
The order of phases every round is as follows:
Phase | Description |
---|---|
Hold Your Cool | Roll Initiative (COOL+1d10)! Lowest goes first. Rolled at the top of every round. |
Appropriations (Main Part 1) | Take an Action |
Background Tasks (Main Part 2) | Background Action Cleanup Phase. Text/DM the Referee. They will respond the same way. This pause in the phases is to allow the Referee to ensure everyone gets answered. Be considerate if your Referee is actively involved in scenes. |
Contemplation | Reassess your project prioritization and plan your action for the round. Players can end this phase early if they are in agreement to do so. |
On your turn each round you can take up to one (1) Action and up to one (1) Background Tasks.
Example Actions
Phase | Description |
---|---|
Secure Budget | Secure the budget for your project. Succeed on a relevant skill check to the project to explain it's value and lock it in. |
Sabotage | Reveal a piece of evidence about a project in an attempt to sabotage it. Succeed on a relevant skill check to get a project de-funded. |
Apply a Cover-Up | Reveal a piece of evidence about a project in an attempt to protect it. Increases the Vulnerability DV of a project by 4. |
Piggyback | Make a pitch to reduce the costs of one of your projects by leveraging staffing, infrastructure, or materials from another project. Make a skill check to reduce the budget for a funded project. This reduction comes from another project and is equal to 10% of either project (whichever is greater). |
Get Creative! | Make a pitch to the Referee! |
Example Background Tasks
Phase | Description |
---|---|
Investigate Project | Make a skill check to work with your Team Members to figure out a piece of information about a project. Can be used multiple times to clarify further. |
Leak/Control the Narrative | Make a skill check to leak information to the media that reduces the Vulnerability DV of a project in an attempt to sabotage that project. |
Find a Fix! | Work with your team to reduce the budget needs of a single project. Examples: Blackmail a distributor, Develop Backroom Deal, Illegal services. |
Interdepartmental Communication | Send a secret message to another member within the meeting. Facilitated by the DM. One response allowed per use of Interdepartmental Communication. |
Get Creative! | Make a pitch to the Referee! |
