Sentinel Stag

"NO, WAIT!" came the warning from their hunting guide, a moment too late. The bowstring thrummed and the arrow whispered through the ancient trees of the Neverwinter Wood until it found its mark: the flank of the largest stag Harbin Wester had ever set eyes upon. The beast did not rear, nor did it bolt deeper into the forest. Instead, it slowly rounded on the hunting party, baring its teeth as it held them in a malevolent, burning gaze that lit up the darkening wood. The charge came at a terrifying speed.

Description

As large as a warhorse, with a black temperament and glowing eyes when provoked, the sentinel stag in no mere prey animal, as many an unsuspecting hunter can attest. Druids and fey use these doughty, magical woodland creatures as guardians in ancient forests and sacred groves where civilization threatens to encroach.
