College of Cards, Bard Subclass

As a College of Cards Bard, you are able to use magic to foresee the future and alter the tides of fate. Your character may be a fortune teller, poker cheat, casino owner, or anyone else commonly associated with fate or chance.

Card Counter

At 3rd level, you gain an uncanny control over your own luck. Whenever you would normally roll a d20, instead draw from a numbered deck of 20 cards, using the number on the card in place of the roll. Any creature you force to make a saving throw also draws from this deck instead of rolling. After a card is drawn, place it in a discard pile until the deck is replenished. The deck is replenished after all cards are expended or after a short or long rest. At DM discretion you may be punished for counting cards with pen and paper. Additionally, you gain proficiency with sleight of hand and all gaming sets.

Cheater's Clairvoyance

At 3rd level, you can use inspiration die to alter the tides of fate. On your turn, you can use a bonus action and one inspiration die to unveil the top cards of your deck. The number of cards you unveil is equivalent to half the number rolled on the inspiration die (rounded up). After seeing the cards, you can choose to discard any number of them. The remaining cards are placed back on the top of your deck in any order you desire.

Prophetic Protection

At 6th level, you can use cheater’s clairvoyance to tilt the odds against your opponents. When using cheater’s clairvoyance, you may set aside one of the cards you unveiled for later use. If you have a a card stored in this manner, you can use a reaction to substitute the attack roll of a creature with the number on the card. The target creature must be hostile and must be within 30ft of you. After using a card in this manner, it is sent to the discard pile. If the deck is replenished while this card is stored, the card is sent back to the deck.

Destructive Dealer

At 14th level, every time you spend a bardic inspiration die, a creature of your choice within 30ft takes psychic damage equivalent to the top card on your deck. The card is then sent to the discard pile.
