College of Riches

Bards who follow the College of Riches are masters of finance, entrepreneurship, and the art of persuasion. They navigate the world with a keen eye for profit, using their charm and wit to strike deals, amass wealth, and gain an upper hand in negotiations. These bards understand that money can be as powerful as magic, and they leverage their financial expertise to shape the world to their advantage.

Master Negotiator

Starting at 3rd level, your skills in negotiation are unrivaled. When you make a Charisma (Persuasion), Charisma (Deception), or Charisma (Intimidation) check, you can treat a d20 roll of 7 or lower as an 8.

Merchant's Insight

Starting at 6th level, your knack for trade and deception allows you to extract wealth in a variety of ways. As an action, you can either assess the value of an item or locate valuable possessions on a creature.

  • Assess Value: choose an item or service you can see within 60 feet. You learn its market value, any hidden flaws or features that could affect its value, and the lowest price a seller might accept. This does not reveal magical properties.

  • Locate Valuables: designate a target within 60 feet that you can see. You discern the location of any coins or other objects of value on them and gain advantage on Sleight of Hand checks made to steal from the target.

  • Discern Desires: Select one creature you can see within 60 feet. You learn the creature's current desires, motivations and emotional state, giving you advantage on Persuasion, Deception, and Intimidation checks against that creature for the next hour.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Underworld Influence

At 14th level, your underworld connections allow you to set up black market operations swiftly. With 1 days work, you can establish a criminal enterprise in a city that generates daily income equal to 2d10 times your Bard level. This income continues until you leave the city or other circumstances disrupt it. Once per day, you may spend 10 minutes to call upon your connections to procure illicit goods or services such as fencing, hiring thugs etc.
