Race: Starfallen
Starfallen are race of winged humanoids descended from celestials who either left or were cast out of their home plane. Despite their angelic appearance, starfallen are often ambitious, even cunning.
Starfallen wings vary from feathery wings that sprout from the back of the shoulders to smooth wings matching the skin tone. Starfallen are famous for a wide range of temperaments. Some are known to customize their wings with tattoos or bold color dyes, while others revere their wings as sacred gifts.
Ambitious Ascenders
Using their physique to their advantage, starfallen have risen in the ranks of the political elite in many kingdoms. They are above average height, often with striking features, and are born with angelic wings, though some remove them to disguise their true nature and further distance themselves from their celestial origins.
Traits
Creature type
You are humanoid.
Flutter
As a bonus action you can extend your wings and choose one of the following effects that lasts until the beginning of your next turn. Your wings block the view of your strike: add 1d4 to your first melee attack roll, or your wings distract from your actual movement: add 1d4 to your AC. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Limited Flight
When you move, you can engage your wings to gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed until the end of the current turn. You regain a use of this trait when you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
Glide
When you fall, you can use your reaction to extend your wings to glide. You descend a distance equal to twice your walking speed and can move horizontally half the distance you descend. If you start your turn aloft and are not incapacitated or prone, you can make this glide as movement on your turn. If you land from a glide you take 0 damage from the fall.
Starfallen Magic
Starting at 1st level you know the gust cantrip. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this cantrip when you cast it with this trait (choose when you select this race).
Angelic Influence
On occasion, your celestial physique lends credence to your words. You can add your Constitution modifier to a Charisma check. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
