Beast Tamer v10.25

Description

The Beast Tamer is a class based on taming creatures to assist them in combat. The Beast Tamer can be diverse in its function to its traveling companions. They can focus on creatures that assist with DPS or have their pet be the tank for their party. They could also go more of a utility route and pick a creature that could make a good scout or just a role-play companion.

The Beast Tamer can focus on nature or debuffs as its focus when it comes to spell casting. The typical Beast Tamer will command its beast companion to attack while they curse the target with debuffs or insect plagues. In wild form it can essentially be a tank as it takes 1/2 damage from attacks against it.

The Beast Tamer is based on the Venomancer class from the MMORPG Perfect World International.

The creature must be of type beast and can not fly in order to be tamed by you. You can have up to your proficiency bonus amount of tamed beast under contract with you at a time.

To tame a beast it must be below 25% hp and be 1/3rd or lower of your Beast Tamer level. Roll animal handling to attempt to tame it. On a higher roll than the beasts DC it is tamed and under contract by you.

At level 1 you may start with any non flying, medium or lower sized beast of level 1 or lower that is allowed by your DM.

For DM's calculating the animal DC can either be based on feel on the creature type and alignment. An alternative is a formula that is based on AC, CR, Wis, & Size. ( (AC/4) + (CR/2) + (Wisdom-Score/3) + (Size-Modifier/1.5) )

Heal Beast
