The Necromancer

There are few who devote themselves to those who practice the art of undeath, but those who are willing to suffer and sacrifice to do so surmount great power. Many who practice such arts are usually misunderstood and are shunned by fear. Many wish to see a loved one again, or to atone for great mistakes. All the while others are right to be feared, spreading suffering, fear, and domination in their wake.

Expanded Spell List

Warlock Level Spells
1st False Life, Inflict Wounds
2nd Gentle Repose, Wither and Bloom
3rd Animate Dead, Speak with Dead
4th Blight, Shadow of Moil
5th Danse Macabre, Negative Energy Flood

Raise Undead

Starting at 1st level, you gain the unnatural ability to bring life to those that have fallen. As an action, choose a pile of bones or corpse of a medium or small creature within 30 feet of you that you can see. You imbue the target with the imitation of life, raising it as an Undead Servant.

A servant is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. See this creature’s game statistics in the Undead Servant stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. You determine the servant’s appearance. Some servants take the form of the creature as it is in death, are a fragment of the creature’s spirit, while others rip themselves from the flesh as skeletal abominations.

In combat, the creature shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. The only action a servant can take on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command your servants to take another action. That action can be one in their stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the servants can take any action of their choice, not just dodge.

You can summon a number of undead servants equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down. A servant lasts until they drop to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to summon another servant in place of another, until you dismiss them as an action, or until you die. You can summon a servant a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Call of the Grave

At 1st level, your control over death allows you to mark those for it. You learn the Toll the Dead cantrip, which doesn’t count against the number of Warlock cantrips you know. For you, your undead servants have advantage on attack rolls made against a creature who has taken damage from your Toll the Dead spell until the start of your next turn.

Corpse Explosion

Beginning at 6th level, when you target a corpse or an undead creature you control is reduced to 0 hit points, you can cause them to explode with magical energy. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet of the target or undead creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save a creature takes 2d10 + your charisma modifier necrotic damage and is pushed up to 10 feet away, or half as much damage and isn’t pushed on a successful one. This damage increases to 3d10 at 10th level, and 4d10 at 14th level.

Barrier of Flesh and Bone

Beginning at 10th level, you can use your servants to take the brunt of attacks for you. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to deconstruct an undead creature you control that’s within 30 feet of you that you can see interposing its remains in front of you, reducing the damage by your charisma modifier + your warlock level and reducing the undead creature to 0 hit points.

Undead Amalgamation

At 14th level, you learn the ability to manipulate the dead into a myriad of forms. If you have two or more undead servants within 30 feet of you, you can use an action on your turn to deconstruct two of them and summon an undead golem in an unoccupied space within 30 feet that you can see reducing the undead servants to 0 hit points.

A golem is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. See this creature’s game statistics in the Undead Golem stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. You determine the golem’s appearance. Many golems are amassed structures of bone devoid of flesh, while others could be an emulsion of flesh, blood, and muscle.

In combat, the creature shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. The only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take an action or bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the golem can take any action of their choice, not just dodge.

A golem lasts 1 hour, until they drop to 0 hit points, until you dismiss it as an action, or until you die. When a golem is reduced to 0 hit points or is deconstructed it deals an additional 4d10 necrotic damage with corpse explosion. After you summon a golem, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.

Eldritch Invocations

Master of Puppets

Prerequisite: 15th level, Pact of the Chain

Raise Skeleton

Prerequisite: Pact of the Chain
As an action on your turn, you can choose a pile of bones or corpse of a medium or small creature within 30 feet of you that you can see. You imbue the target with the imitation of life, raising it as a skeleton using the Undead Servant stat block.

The skeleton is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. In combat, the skeleton shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. The only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take an action or bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the skeleton can take any action of their choice, not just dodge.

The skeleton lasts 8 hours, until they drop to 0 hit points, until you dismiss it as an action, until you use this invocation to summon another servant in its place, or until you die. You can’t use this invocation again until you finish a long rest.
