Oath of Dragons
Those who take up the Oath of Dragons announce to all others of their unwavering pride. Such pride may stem from themselves, their people, or perhaps a chosen purpose. Though they may revel in their pride, these oath takers are rarely outwardly selfish for there is little reason to bother themselves with the thoughts of others or how others may act towards them. They scoff and laugh at others who would mock them, but also push others they surround themselves with to a higher purpose.
Tenets of Dragons
Paladins who swear the dragon’s oath are bound by it through their very souls.
Ancient Pride. One must see themselves as one above all others. You should never feel sorry for those beneath you, only pity them.
Strength Before Weakness. You must set the example for those who can't find the strength to pull themselves to greater heights, you must be forever reaching, even beyond the skies.
By Force or Not at All. Cheating, lying, and all other forms of subterfuge are beneath you. If you can’t take something by force or cunning alone, you do not deserve it.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.
Paladin Level | Spells |
---|---|
3rd | Absorb Elements, Faerie Fire |
5th | Earthbind, Rime’s Binding Ice |
9th | Ashardalon’s Stride, Beacon of Hope |
13th | Polymorph, Raulothim's Psychic Lance |
17th | Circle of Power, Summon Draconic Spirit |
Channel Divinity
At 3rd level, you gain the following Channel Divinity options:
Prideful Words. As an action, you can touch your holy symbol to emulate the voice of dragons. For the next hour, whenever you make an Intimidation, or Persuasion check, you can treat a roll of 9 or lower as a 10. Additionally, you are considered under the effects of the Thaumaturgy spell creating up to three effects.
Exalted Breath. As a bonus action, choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or psychic damage as the soul of the chosen dragon erupts from your mouth. Each creature within a 15-foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. You can choose a number of creatures equal to your charisma modifier, the chosen creatures automatically succeed on their saving throws and take no damage. On a failed save, a creature takes 1d10 damage of the chosen type plus an additional 1d10 damage equal to your proficiency bonus. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage.
Aura of the Draconic
Starting at 7th level, you emit an aura of pure draconic energy. Each friendly creature within 10 feet of you has resistance to acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, and psychic damage. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Presence of the Primal
Beginning at 15th level, the pride of your spirit begins to take on it's own form. Once per day you can cast aura of life, aura of purity, aura of vitality, or beacon of hope, without expending a spell slot, and it doesn't require concentration. When you cast one of these spells this way, the range of your Aura of the Draconic and the spell you cast using this feature increases by 15 feet. You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest. When you have no uses remaining, you can expend a use of Channel Divinity to use this feature again.
Dragon's Soul
At 20th level, you can assume the visage of a dragon, taking the appearance you choose. For example, you might grow draconic horns or fins, your skin might cover itself in hardened scales of blue or green, or you become covered with the element of a certain dragon. Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a climb, fly, and swim speed of 30 feet.
- Whenever you use Exalted Breath on your turn, you can use it as if you were in the space of another friendly creature within your Aura of the Draconic, instead of your own, using its senses.
- When a creature within your aura is hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to give them a bonus to their AC equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down until the start of their next turn.
- When a creature (including you) within your Aura of the Draconic makes a weapon attack, they can deal an extra 1d8 acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or psychic damage, their choice.
Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
