Species: Volkar

Born as one with nature and her elements, the Volkari live as an extension of the world's will. They wander the densest wildernesses and feel at home among the wild creatures of the microcosm.

Volkari mature at the age of 18, and often live to be 300 years old. Once they reach the age of 50, their appearance stops degrading until they are near the end of their lifespan.

Their appearance is similar to that of muscular humans with slightly pointed ears. Their connection to nature can often manifest in strange ways in their bodies as they mature. You can choose two of the examples from the Volkar Features table for how your bloodline affects you, or create your own.

1 When you touch a bioluminescent plant or fungus, your skin takes on the same glow for one minute.
2 When you hear a beast's heartbeat, you know its exact emotions.
3 Sometimes, you bleed water.
4 If someone puts their ear against your skin, they can sometimes hear sounds of the woods.
5 You can know the taste of a beast or plant just by looking at it.
6 You can vocally mimic the sound of any beast with enough practice.

  • Hightened Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill. Choose either smell, sight, or hearing. You gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on the chosen sense.
  • Sight of the World. Once per long rest, if you are in a naturally formed environment, you can use your action to gain blindsight out to a range of 60 feet. This effect lasts an amount of minutes equal to your level for as long as you remain in a natural environment.

  • Utilising Nature. You have proficiency in one of the following tools: Cook's Utensils, Herbalism Kit, Leatherworker's Tools, Poisoner's Kit, Woodcarver's Tools.

  • One With Nature. You know the Druidcraft cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the Absorb Elements spell with this trait. Starting at 5th level, you can also cast the Barkskin spell on yourself with this trait, without requiring material components. Once you cast Absorb Elements or Barkskin with this trait, you can't cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast those spells using spell slots you have of the appropriate level.
    Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait.
