What's the difference?

Persona

Persona act as an extension of oneself. There are multitudes of persona, all of which are found in the Person Compendium.

Other Changes

Other than the addition of Persona, there are currently no other changes, though there may be some added later

How does one play?

First things first, you get to choose you're race. The guide includes two races currently, Human and Monster. They can be found on page 4.

After that, you'll want to choose your class. Currently, there is three classes based around being a Persona User. You'll have the Bruiser, the Magician, and the Gunman.

With the bruiser, you'll want to use more physical based attacks and skills, the Magician is better for magical and almighty attacks, and the Gunman gives you different gun based abilities and better gun skills.

Finally, you'll want to choose your Persona, all of which can be found here, in the Persona Compendium.

PERSONA!

Starting at level 1, you unlock the manifestation of your inner thoughts or desires, your Persona. From the list, you will be provided with your Starter Persona. Each Persona is different, with stats more attuned for specific uses, so choose your persona wisely.

Fighting Stance

At level 1, you also adopt a particular fighting style, either based around you or your persona. The fighting stances can be found on page XX

Martial Die

At level 2, you unlock your martial die. The die starts at 1d4, and levels up to 1d6 at level 5, 1d8 at level 11, and finally 1d10 at level 17. When making a physical attack, either by yourself or with your persona, you can add your martial die to the damage.

Enhanced Movement

Also at level 2, your speed increases by 10ft while not wearing Heavy Armor. This bonus increases to 15ft at level 6, 20ft at level 9, 25ft at level 13, and 30ft at level 17.

Subclass

At 3rd level, you gain access to your subclass. There three subclasses to choose from, those being the Bruiser, the Mentally Strong, and the Crit Master. Each of these give you a feature at levels 3, 6, 11, and 17.

Baton Pass

At level 5, you unlock the ability to baton pass with other allies who have this ability. Baton passes work as a way to increase damage during a teams turn, using your reaction to "Pass the Baton". They activate upon hitting an enemies weakness or hitting a critical hit. When you Baton Pass to one ally, they also have the ability to Baton Pass, which will further increase damage. The table looks like this:

  • Baton Pass 1: Deals an extra 1/4 damage
  • Baton Pass 2: Deals an extra 1/2 damage
  • Baton Pass 3+: Deals double damage

A creature may only use a Baton Pass once per round, and only a number of times equal to their proficiency bonus per long rest.

This ability is replaced by "Better Passing" at level 10.

Extra Attack

Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. This gets increased to 3 attacks at level 13.

All Out Attack

If all opponents are knocked prone, or if all allies have triggered a Baton Pass this round, you and all allies may use your Bonus Action to make one attack or Persona Skill against an enemy within range. Ranged attacks won't have disadvantage during an All Out Attack.

Resistance

At level 6, you gain a resistance to status effects, as your more athletic body helps to filter out bad substances. When you make a save vs an ill effect, you can add your proficiency bonus to to the save.

This gets replaced by Better Resistance at level 9.

Empowered Strength

Also at level 6, your strength has started to grow beyond that of the average human. When you deal physical damage, either on your own or with your Persona, you can add extra damage equal to your level.

This ability can only be used a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier per long rest.
