Soap Dragon

by Paolo Davolio // Echidna Design

A soap dragon develops when the egg of a waterborne dragon (like a bronze dragon) is taken away from the elemental forces of its nest, and exposed to the comforts of humanoid civilization. In these instances, the water elemental energies that are part of the creature can be infused with soap, perfumes and other artificial substances, influencing the characteristics of the wyrmling. For examples, this can happen when an egg is found by humans, washed with soap and kept in an household, or when a child finds a dragon egg by chance and hides it from its parents. In some rarer cases, this mutation can happen when the egg etches inside a body of water where people usually do laundry.

Soap dragons are frequently raised as part of the community where they are born. Because of that, they often learn the Common language earlier than other wyrmlings. When they grow older, the original elemental energies of the dragon usually prevail and the creature goes back to its regular form, but can retain some spellcasting abilities from its soapy childhood.

Amphibious. The dragon can breathe air and water.

Freedom of Movement. The dragon ignores difficult terrain, and magical effects can't reduce its speed or cause it to be restrained. It can spend 5 feet of movement to escape from nonmagical restraints or being grappled.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw to not fall prone.

Breath Weapons (Recharge 5-6). The dragon uses one of the following breath weapons.
Bubbles Breath. The dragon exhales high-pressured soapy bubbles in a 20-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 10 (3d6) bludgeoning damage and falls prone. On a failure of 5 or more, a creature is also blinded for 1 minute or until it washes its eyes with water as an action. A creature resistant or immune to acid or poison can't be blinded in this way. On a success, a creature takes half as much damage and doesn't fall prone.
Cleaning Breath. The dragon exhales soapy foam in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area gains 5 temporary hit points. While a creature has any of these temporary hit points left, the creature has resistance to acid and poison damage and advantage on saving throws against poison and diseases.

After using any of these breath weapons, the ground underneath the breath area becomes difficult terrain, and a creature that enters the area for the first time during a turn or begins its turn there must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw to not fall prone. This area effect lasts for 24 hours or until the area is washed with water.

Spellcasting. The dragon casts one of the following spells, using Charisma as the spellcasting ability:

At will: prestidigitation (everything created by the spell is made of bubbles)
1/day each: create or destroy water, purify food and drink
