Draupnir Spear

Weapon (spear), legendary (requires attunement)

Santa Monica Studio

Crafted by a mythical mermaid the dwarves revere as the Lady of the Forge, the Draupnir Spear is produced by a magical ring capable of replicating an infinite number of spears for the wearer. Legend says the forging required a drop of blood from a god of war.

You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, the weapon ignores resistance to piercing damage.

When you hit a creature with a melee Attack, you can choose to leave the spear impaled into the creature, summoning a new spear as a part of the same Attack. When you hit a creature with a ranged Attack, the spear impales the creature and a new spear is summoned to your hand.

As a Reaction to impaling a creature, you may detonate all spears impaled into creatures. A creature takes 1d4 force damage for each spear impaling the creature. If a creature is impaled by 3 or more spears, the damaged is increased to 1d6 force damage for each spear. If a creature is impaled by 5 or more spears, the creature must make a DC 18 Strength saving throw, or be knocked prone.

The number of spears that can exist out of your hand is equal to your proficiency bonus. If this number is exceeded, the oldest spear disintegrates harmlessly. The spears disintegrate harmlessly after 1 minute if not detonated.

Additionally, when Attacking a target beyond normal range, you do not suffer disadvantage on the Attack roll.
