Fallen Angel

Determined to destroy evil from its source, Sephiroth revoked his vows to Helm and descended to Hades leaving a wing behind.


The blood war's ongoing violence spurred Sephiroth to research how it started. After many years, he found that demons and devils were originally designed and not "birthed" from their planes. They were not designed in the Abyss or the Nine Hells but Hades.


Hades is nothing but a gray waste. A plane devoid of emotion or color just like its inhabitants, the yugoloths. These creatures, ruthless, can be dealt with for the right price.


After spending decades here, Sephiroth became accustomed to trading souls with inhabitants to gather information. Slaying the occasional demon lord or greater devil that crossed his path, he found that information about the origins of demons or devils was sparse.


Eventually, he came to the Town in the Center where the three layers of Hades touch one another. He gained audience with its leader, Dandy Will, whom was happy to share what he knew for souls of paladins. For sake of stopping evil, Sephiroth had no problem gathering such things.


There was a race of beings older than gods known as Baernaloths that secretly resided in Hades. They are beings of absolute evil that designed not only demons and devils but daemons and demodands as well. Such beings are said to be unkillable as their soul moves to take over others. However, Sephiroth is determined to find a way.

Traits

Innate Spellcasting Sephiroth's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 26, +16 to hit). He can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: Fireball, Detect Thoughts, Scorching Ray, Hellish Rebuke, Vortex Warp, Hunger of Hadar, Darkness

3/day each: Wall of Fire, Scatter, Dominate Person, Dimension Door

1/day each: Storm of Vengeance, Delayed Blast Fireball, Meteor Swarm, Etherealness, Dominate Monster

Legendary Resistance (3/Day) If Sephiroth fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance Sephiroth has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Magic Weapons Sephiroth's weapon attacks are magical. When he hits with any weapon, the weapon deals an extra 27 (6d8) fire/necrotic damage (included in the weapon attacks below).

Regeneration Sephiroth regains 20 hit points at the start of his turn. If he takes radiant damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of his next turn. Sephiroth dies only if he starts his turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.

Teleporting Stride Sephiroth always has the effects of Farstep on him. If dispelled, he can reactivate the effect on the beginning of his next turn (no action required). Whenever Sephiroth teleports, he has advantage on his next melee attack on the same turn.

Winged Acceleration As a bonus action, Sephiroth can use dash or disengage if he is moving on the ground.

Actions

Multiattack Sephiroth makes two Masamune attacks, uses Shadow Flare, and teleports up to 60 ft. away in any order.

Masamune +17 to hit, 10 ft. reach; on hit take 18 (2d8 + 9) slashing and 27 (6d8) fire/necrotic damage.

Shadow Flare Sepiroth Targets a 30 ft. long and 10 ft wide line within 120 ft. Creatures in that area must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw taking 27 (6d8) necrotic/fire damage on a failure and half on a success.

Otherwise, he can fire 4 fiery dark orbs at targets within 300 ft. +16 to hit, dealing 2d8 necrotic/fire on hit.


Action

Descend Heartless Angel (Recharge 6) Sephiroth targets any number of creatures within 30 ft. and cannot move, teleport, or use legendary resistances.

If his concentration is not interrupted by the beginning of his next turn, every creature targeted must succeed a DC 21 Charisma Saving throw or their HP is reduced to 1 and they cannot cast spells or use psionics for 1 minute. At the beginning of an affected creature's turn, it makes a DC 21 Charisma saving throw regaining its use of its spellcasting and psionics on a success.

If a creature receives magical healing, it regains its use of spellcasting and psionics.

Reaction

Quick Draw Sephiroth makes one attack against a creature that enters his reach.

Parry Sephiroth raises his AC by 8 against one weapon attack he can see being made against him.

Legendary Action (3/round)

Sephiroth has 3 Legendary actions a round and regains the uses at the beginning of his turns.

Quick Step He moves up to his speed without triggering attacks of opportunity if on the ground. He moves up to 50 ft. while in the air.

Out of my Way (Two Actions) Sephiroth summons intense necrotic flames around himself. Each creature of his choice in a 10-foot radius, 40 ft. cylinder centered on himself must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 42 (12d6) necrotic/fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Spell (Two Actions) Sephiroth casts an at-will spell.

Release Power [Recharge 5-6] (Three Actions) Bright light within 60 ft. becomes dimly lit and dim light becomes completely dark. Sephiroth casts Steel Wind Strike except it deals fire/necrotic damage.

Wherever he reappears, creatures within 15 ft. must succeed a DC 21 Strength Saving throw or be knocked prone.
