Ranger Archetype

Hunter

Emulating the Hunter archetype means accepting your place as a bulwark between civilization and the terrors of the wilderness. As you walk the Hunter's path, you learn specialized techniques for fighting the threats you face, from rampaging ogres and hordes of orcs to towering giants and terrifying dragons.

Giant Killer

From 3rd level, in melee combat when a Large size or larger creature within 5 feet attacks you, you may use your reaction to immediately attack that creature.

Horde Breaker

From 3rd level, in melee combat when you are within 5 feet of two or more creatures and you attack one with a weapon attack, you may use your bonus action to immediately attack another one of the creatures within 5 feet.

Escape the Horde

From 7th level, in combat opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.

Steel Will

From 7th level, you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.

Volley

From 11th level, you may use the Volley action which allows you to make multiple ranged weapon attacks in the same moment in combat. The Extra Attack feature does not apply when you use a Volley action. When you use a Volley action you may make ranged weapon attacks against any number of creatures within 10 feet of a point you can see within your weapon’s range. You must have ammunition for each target and you make a separate attack roll for each target.

Evasion

From 15th level, when you are subjected to an effect, such as a red dragon’s fiery breath or a lightning bolt spell, that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
