The Cloud Dahlia

Wonderous item, artifact (requires attunement by a druid)

This flower was cultivated by an ancient cloud giant for his beloved. For all the years he waited, he continued to cultivate it, even after his death. Eventually, his soul became bound to it.

The petals on this flower are made of cloud. They break apart as an object passes through them, but quickly reform.

Random Properties. The Cloud Dhalia has the following properties, determined by rolling on the tables in the "Artifacts" section in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master's Guide:

  • 1 minor beneficial property
  • 1 major beneficial property

Spellcasting. This flower can be used as a druidic spellcasting focus. When using as a focus, at the normal casting time you can cast the following spells once per day: Control Weather, Sleet Storm, Wind Wall, Call Lightning, Fog Cloud, Creation*, Fabricate*.

*When Casting Creation or Fabricate, you can only Create clouds and Fabricate with clouds. The clouds can be incorporeal, or dense enough to walk on (AC 11, HP 4).

Transformation As An action you can place the flower into unworked earth or stone and speak the command word to transform the flower into a Druid Grove over 10 minutes as if cast by the spell. This lasts until you speak the command word to revert its form.

Sentience. The Cloud Dahlia is a sentient neutral good magic item with an Intelligence of 12, a Wisdom of 16, and a Charisma of 16. It has hearing and vision out to a range of 120 feet. It can communicate telepathically with the creature that is attuned to it, as long as that creature understands at least one language.
