Warlock Patron

The Greatwyrm

Your patron is a Greatwyrm, a dragon of unfathomable age, who possesses the knowledge of eons and represents the pinnacle of mortal existence. The motivations of Greatwyrms are often inscrutable and your pact offers you little insight into the their desires. Counted among the ranks of the Greatwyrms's are the Firstborn Dragons of the Agondar Council, and the rare few that have managed to achieve such a feat remain far from the prying eyes of lesser mortals.

Greatwyrm Pact

At 1st level, you choose an chromatic, metallic, or gemstone dragon that you formed a pact with. At your DM's discretion you may also choose a dragon turtle, moonstone dragon, or deep dragon as your patron.

Additionally, your patron grants you the ability to communicate with dragons. You gain the ability to speak, read, and write Draconic.

The Greatwyrm lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you. Consult the spell list associated with your chosen type of dragon from your Greatwyrm Pact class feature.

Herald of the Greatwyrm

Also at 1st level, your body undergoes a number of physiological changes as your pact with the Greatwyrm alters your physical form. You gain the following:

  • Your pupils narrow becoming more draconic granting you superior darkvision. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • You manifest a thin coat of scales over parts of your body granting you a base armor class of 13 + your Dexterity modifier.

You may also manifest a number of other changes. You can choose from the following list or you can come up with your own.

  • You sprout a pair or pairs of draconic horns.
  • You sprout a draconic tail.
  • Your teeth become jagged.
  • Your breath smells faintly of brimstone, ozone, or some other appropriate smell.

Presence of the Greatwyrm

Starting at 6th level, you can manifest the dread presence of your patron. As an action, each creature of your choice that is within 60 feet of you and aware of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your Spell Save DC or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Vigor of the Greatwyrm

Starting at 10th level, your pact with the Greatwyrm alters your physical form on a fundamental level. You gain resistance to one damage type of your choice from: acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder. Typically, the damage type you choose is one associated with your patron.

In addition, you age at a slow rate. For every 5 years that pass, your body only ages 1 year, and you are immune to being magically aged.

Avatar of the Greatwyrm

Starting at 14th level, your pact with the Greatwyrm allows you to briefly transcend your physical form allowing you to undergo a rapid transformation. As a bonus action you can manifest this transformation. You gain the following for the next minute:

  • You gain the hyper senses of a dragon granting you blindsight out to 60 feet.
  • You gain immunity to the damage type associated with your chosen type of dragon.
  • Thick scales fully cover your body giving you a base armor class of 15 + your Dexterity modifier.
  • Draconic wings sprout from your back giving you a 60 foot fly speed.
  • Once during this transformation, whenever you would fail a saving throw you can choose to succeed instead.

Additionally, as an action you can end the transformation early to cast Illusory Dragon which manifests in the image of your patron. The damage caused by Illusory Dragon is the damage type associated with your chosen type of dragon.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
