# Drake Drakes share their ancestry with the mighty dragons that once walked on Endorrain. Now they serve as grim reminders for those once powerful beings who have since been hunted to extinction. It's largely understood that drakes were molded and shaped by their mighty elemental breaths and had life breathed into them by the dragons. Many think that dragons foretold their own demise and wanted to create something the world would remember them by. Others believe they did so simply because they had the power to create life. Regardless of their reasoning, drakes are now among the mortal races that exist in Endorrain. They share the best and worst parts of both humankind and dragonkind. They can be haughty and stubborn, but also incredibly powerful and wise beyond their years. It's common for drakes to share a powerful love for something which they often hoard, similar to their ancient ancestors. This hoard may not always be gold or gems but can be something completely random they find an attachment too such as books, magical artifacts, or sometimes even living animals like cats or frogs. Family is important among drakes. Like dragons, they hatch from eggs and often remain close to their fellow clutch-mates long after reaching adulthood. Bringing honor for yourself brings honor to the entire family and so does the opposite should you ever be dishonored. It's rare to find a drake that has been cut off entirely from their family, though it can happen. ### Dragonborn Drakes are - in essence - humanoid dragons. They are human in shape, but have draconic features that resemble their ancient relatives. Some drakes have more draconic features, such as dragon-like faces and claws and tails. Others look more human, covered in patches of scales with horns. Some lizard-like chimera are often confused for drakes but some of the key differences include the fact that dragonborn have a more defined jawline, horns, and they all have wings which chimera never have. They naturally have a more intimidating presence to them as well. Like dragons, drakes come in a variety of unique colors. The color of a drake determines the elemental breath they have which is a signature feature of themselves. It's believed their scale-color determines the dragon color which they are closest to. Most common colors include shades of copper, bronze, scarlet, black, or silver while more rare colors include blues, greens, and whites. Some drakes take after gemstones such as crystal, amethyst, sapphire, and obsidian - though it is incredibly rare. ### Drake Names Like dragons, drakes often share names similar to dragons. Males tend to have names which will change when they reach maturity to have the pronounciation adjusted. Females tend to not have their names change at all, only sharing a single name through their life. \pagebreakNum

#### Drake Traits ***Ability Score Increase.*** Choose any +2; choose any other +1 ***Age.*** Drakes age quickly, being able to walk only a few hours after they’ve been born. At around the age of three, a dragonborn has the same development as a ten year old. They reach adulthood at around fifteen years of age, and can live to be around eighty. ***Size.*** Drakes are taller and heavier than humans, usually being around six feet tall. Your size is medium. ***Speed.*** Your base walking speed is 30 feet, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed if you have wings. You can't use this flying speed if you're wearing medium or heavy armor. ***Draconic Ancestry.*** You have draconic ancestry. Choose one type of dragon from the Draconic Ancestry table. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by the dragon type, shown in the table. ***Breath Weapon.*** You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest. \columnbreak
