Background: House of Fools
Skill Proficiencies: Performance or Deception (your choice), as well as Sleight of Hand
Tool Proficiencies: Disguise Kit and a gaming set of your choice
Equipment: A deck of cards, a carnival uniform or costume, one trinket, and a pouch containing 15 gp
Feature: Cartomancer Initiate
You gain the Cartomancer feat (see below).
Feat: Cartomancer
On taking this feat, you gain the following:
-
Card Tricks. You learn the prestidigitation cantrip and can use it to create illusions that duplicate the effects of stage magic. When you use prestidigitation in this way, you can conceal the verbal and somatic components of the spell as mundane conversation and card-handling.
-
Card Focus. You can use a deck of cards as your spellcasting focus, and you learn the augury and wristpocket spells. Using a deck of cards as your spellcasting focus allows you to cast the aforementioned spells as rituals, and to substitute it for any of their material components.
-
Hidden Ace. When you finish a long rest, you can choose a number of spells you know and imbue them into cards; each chosen spell must have a casting time of 1 action, and their combined levels must be less than or equal to your proficiency bonus. While a card is imbued with the spell, you can use your bonus action to flourish a card and cast the spell within. The card then immediately loses its magic.
