# Sorcerous Origin: Bubble Magic ___ At 1st level a sorcerer gains the Sorcerous Origin feature. As a bubble magic sorcerer your bloodline powers grant you exceptional control over spells involving circles, spheres, and floating. Of course, your origin as a bubble magic sorcerer is as unique as your powers. As a Bubble Magic Sorcerer, you decide how you acquired your powers. Consult the Bubble Magic Origins table for a possible origin of your power. ##### Bubble Magic Origins | d8 | Origin | |:--:|:-| | 1 | As a child you were accidentally gored by a unicorn at the Magical Menagerie Petting Zoo. The adult-dose healing potion you were given had an unexpected reaction with the residual celestial magic which erupted in your first magical bubble. Ever since, you have had an affinity for bubble magic, and a strong fear of anything with horns.| | 2 | That time your friend dared you to swallow a live pixie they had caught--maybe that wasn't such a good idea. | | 3 | You really shouldn’t have kissed the frog. Not only was it not royalty in disguise, it was poisonous. You didn’t croak from the magical toxins that tried to turn you into a frog, thanks to some natural affinity for magical control in your constitution. But, your system can never seem to be fully rid of the bloating magic. You are busting with bubbles! | | 4 | Your bubbly personality spills out into your magic. If you aren't gushing with compliments or enthusiastic suggestions, you emit a continuous stream of bubbles from your nose or ears--otherwise you would burst! | | | | |:--:|:-| | 5 | Somewhere in the unique ancestries of your father and mother were a water genasi and an air genasi. Your bubble magic harnesses elements of the unified bloodlines. Either that, or somewhere in the elemental plane there was a rare "soap genasi" who fell for one of your ancestors.| | 6 | You followed a rainbow to the end, where it connected with the Feywild. You only managed to get your head into the planar portal before your mother hauled you back. The interrupted planar travel mixed your bloodline with a fairy's and your magic got a whole lot prettier. The fey magic within you guides your arcane powers toward bubbles and spheres--the most idyllic form. | | 7 | When you were born inside a translucent flexible egg-like bubble instead of kicking and screaming like the rest of your siblings, your mother knew something about you was different. Refusing to wear a diaper and instead running around with only a shimmering bubble over your bare buns only confirmed her suspicions. The bubble curse, bestowed long ago by a scorned witch and thought to be finally eradicated from your family bloodline, had surfaced yet again. Seeing a load of trouble on the horizon (and the floor), she immediately put you up for adoption. There were no takers. | | 8 | You tried to become a cleric, but incense makes you sneeze. You tried druidism, but every time you saw a terrifying beast you got the hiccups. You tried for a warlock contract with a big-name entity from another plane, but the rude belch that slipped out during your introduction rather derailed that option. It turns out you had it in you all along. Well, if you got it, flaunt it. (And it wasn't actually a belch. And you would never admit to what really happened.) | \pagebreakNum
## Bubble Spells *1st level Bubble Magic feature* Starting at 1st level, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Bubble Magic Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. ##### Bubble Spells | Sorcerer Level | Spells | |:--:|:-| | 1st | *dancing lights, shield, Tenser's floating disk* | | 3rd | *flaming sphere, levitate*| | 5th | *fly, Leomund's tiny hut* | | 7th | Choose any two of: *Ottiluke's freezing sphere, Ottiluke's resilient sphere, vitriolic sphere, watery sphere* | | 9th | *antilife shell, circle of power* | ## Bubble of Protection *6th level Bubble Magic Feature* When you witness an attack on a creature that you can see that is within 60 feet, using your reaction you can spend one sorcery point with a 1st level or higher spell slot to cast the shield spell on the creature as a protective bubble. The creature receives the benefits of the shield spell as if they had cast it on themselves. The target creature does not use their reaction. \columnbreak ## Persistent Bubbles *14th level Bubble Magic feature* Starting at 14th level, as an action you can conjure a bubble of magic on a target creature or point you can see within 60 feet. The bubble lasts for one minute or until you end the effect. When you use this ability, choose one of bubble types from the persistent bubbles table. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency. You recover all uses when you complete a long rest. ##### Persistent Bubbles | Type | Effect | |:--:|:-| | Invigorating Bubble | You conjure a bubble of energizing magic on a creature you choose in range. When you create the bubble and at the beginning of each of your turns, the bubble increase the creature's temporary hit points up your sorcerer level. | | Burbling bubble | Bursting bubbles form on a target creature in range that you choose and that you know the location of. The bubbles emit slurping and popping noise and streams of glowing sparkles that emit bright light to a radius of 30 feet and dim light to a radius of 45 feet. The target cannot benefit from invisibility. | Sticky bubble | A bubble targets a location within range. Any creature within range when the spell is cast, or which comes within 5ft. of the location, must immediately make a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) saving throw or be grappled by the bubble. On successive turns the grappled creature can make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell DC to attempt to break the grapple. | | Blood-sucking bubble | A bubble the drains life appears on a target creature you choose in range. At the beginning of each of its turns, the target creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or it cannot regain hit points until the start of its next turn. | | Distorting bubble | A bubble of distorting patterns surrounds a target creature you choose in range and moves with them. At the beginning of each of its turns, the target creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw, or suffer disadvantage on attack rolls and Dexterity saving throws until the beginning of their next turn. | | Effervescent bubble | A bubble appears on the head of one creature you choose in range and allows it to breathe normally in the absence of breathable air such as underwater, and provides immunity to poison damage or the blinded condition from vapors, clouds or dust. | \pagebreakNum
## Bubble Build *18th level Bubble Magic feature* As an action, you conjure a structure comprised of bubbles which takes one minute to assemble to self-assemble. The structure can be no larger than 100 feet in any dimension and its total volume can’t exceed the volume of thirty 10 x 10 foot cubes, for instance a 30 x 30 x 30 foot object is 27 cubes. The structure is resistant to bludgeoning, slashing, force, acid, and thunder damage, but vulnerable to piercing damage. It is immune to psychic and poison damage. The structure has 500 hit points and it collapses when its hit points are reduced to zero. The structure lasts for up to 24 hours or until you dismiss it. It contains conjured non-structural elements that are not bubbles, but which are relevant to the structure’s function, subject to DM approval. Some examples are suggested below. Casting time: 1 minute Suggested Options: * Bubble bridge: you conjure a bridge of bubbles to span a chasm of less than 100 ft. It has defensive guard posts, viewing platforms, and guard rails of elongated bubbles. * Bubble bowery: you conjure a structure large enough to provide shelter from sun and rain to a group enjoying an outdoor party. It contains bubble lamps, flowering plants in bubble pots, and comfortable bubble poufs for guests to relax on. Several friendly gelatinous oozes wander around collecting trash and providing security. * Bubble boat: the bubble boat is neutral buoyant in both air and water. It propels itself via bursting bubble propulsion at a blubbering speed of 30 ft./round, or 15 ft./round up and down. The bubble boat has interior secure rooms, a crew of dozen helpful imps, and a defensive bubble turret with the specifications of a ballista, except it does force damage as its launched bubbles explode. It also has a bar that serves extra frothy beverages. It can carry a maximum of twenty passengers and their luggage. * Bubble beauty salon: you conjure a beauty salon and day spa. Inside are a host of pixies and sprites that are friendly to you and your allies, and ready to use their prestidigitation and polymorph magic to make you feel rested and look your best (although the polymorph magic only lasts 1 hour). You can enjoy a bubble bath and get a massage. Creatures that are not welcome cannot enter, short of destroying the structure. * Bubble bouncy house: when you have a lot of kids to entertain, or you lost a bet, or your allies need a fun diversion. Once you use this action, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend 7 sorcery points to use it again. \pagebreakNum ### Contribution Credits Artwork generated using Midjourney tool v5.
