# Talent Trees (Modified) ## Purpose of the changes [Talent Trees](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VvHtaIhUOam4VkNB_lSmn-olS_oQmIYU/view), initially released in 2018 by /u/Craios125 and /u/ImFromNASA, is great and work as is. It is however missing many new feats options released since then, such as those found in *Tasha's Cauldron of Everything*. Additionally, there's a few mistakes and design issues that were reported on platforms such as reddit which could be easily be fixed. I've thus decided to modify the document to the best of my abilities to fix everything that was reported and to add the missing feats. The original authors and the other converters (Sasquatchbrah, Ikaguia) are not involved unless otherwise specified, contact me (Maal) for questions and feedback related to the changes or FoundryVTT import. ## List of Changes ### General modifications * To simulate Skill Expert, instead of progressing again on a skill tree when you are proficient in its skill, you can gain expertise. You can do this only once. * All instances of additional damage to certain creatures types were changed to 1d6 with a minimum equal to your Intelligence modifier from simply the Intelligence modifier, to help non wizards/artificers. In addition, you do not need to pick a creature, it applies to all of those listed in the Talent. * All Weapon Specializations related to any type of polearm were standardized to affect the same weapons: The glaive, halberd, pike, trident, spear and quarterstaff. ### Skill Trees modifications * Planar Disruptor now also apply to Fey. * Tactician has a description of its own instead of using the one from Martial Adept. * Martial Adept in the History Tree was removed because it is a duplicate. It was replaced by Strategist, which allow you to play before all surprised creatures on the first turn only, creating new opportunities for Tactician. * Performer's effect replaced with part of the *Unearthed Arcana: Feats for Skills*' Performer effect. It used to grant expertise in the disguise kit which is already covered by Master of Some. * Silver Tongued was renamed to Enthralling. It shared its name with a maneuver and a bard feature. * Replaced Fey with Undead for Occultist and Exorcist, as none of the damage feats applied to Undead. * Thief of Property was limiting all form of pickpocketing to the talent. It now allow you to pickpocket a small item from a creature aware of you without them noticing it immediately if the check is 5 or more above their passive perception. \columnbreak ### Specialty Trees modifications * 15 new talents related to tools were added. These can be picked alongside Master of Some. Most of these were added by Sasquatchbrah and are based on badooga's [Feats for Tools](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-MAcPWstQ1_hNxmnlFdR). More were added or changed based on the feats from *Unearthed Arcana: Feats for Skills* and *Tasha's Cauldron of Everything*. * Shield Bash now simply require a bonus action instead of the confusing RAW ruling. * To improve Weapon Improvisation FoundryVTT support, 3 weapons were added based on the talent. Improvised Light/Versatile/Heavy Weapon. * Medium Armor Master simply give +1 AC while wearing medium armor. It was an underwhelming niche talent/feat, so it no longer requires non dex characters to spend another ASI to gain any value from it. * Metamagic Initiate/Adept were added as a branch of Apprentice. * Eldritch Initiate/Adept were added as a branch of Apprentice. * Magic Adept, a talent linked to Magic Initiate, grant a second level spell that cannot be changed to simulate the Fey/Shadow Touched feats. While the spell can be chosen unlike the feats, it is no longer a half feat either due to requiring at least 2 talents to pick (Magic Adept and Magic Initiate, Apprentice can be skipped). * Both Magic Initiate's and Magic Adept's spells can be cast with regular spell/pact slots. * Added a Psionic Tree, which include Telekinetic, Telepathic and Wild Talent from *Unearthed Arcana Psionic Options Revisited* as capstone. Wild Talent include Tower of Iron Will from the same source and follow the Psi Warrior's and SoulKnife's Psionic die system. Telekinetic and Telepathic were half feat, but now require 2 talents. To balance out, Wild Talent is a strong capstone requiring only 1 more talent. * Parry was renamed to Defensive Duelist due to the maneuver of the same name and now uses your full dexterity modifier. * Added Gash, Slasher, Puncturing Strike, Piecer and Crusher as Intermediate Weapon Specialties. They represent the Slasher, Piercer and Crusher feats. Crusher's knock back effect was not added as several other Weapon Specialties already have a shove.
