The World Tree

You will be our guardian, Remeron of the Wild Places. Remember who it was who gave you this power. Remember what you promised. You will stand tall, you will guard nature with your life and more, you will not fall. Go now, and know that you have nature itself at your side.

A Warlock Patron

Contrary to popular belief, there is more than one world tree scattered throughout the planes of existence. Towering and ancient living monoliths, these are no mere plants either. They are ancient spirits of nature. They may choose a champion to punish defilers of the wild places or a guardian to protect the forests.

Expanded spell list

The World Tree lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Spells
1st Create or Destroy Water, Entangle
2nd Barkskin, Spike Growth
3rd Plant Growth, Speak with Plants
4th Grasping Vine, Guardian of Nature
5th Awaken, Tree Stride

Grasping Roots

Starting at 1st level, you can summon roots from the ground to block your foes. As a bonus action, you may choose a creature on the ground you can see within 90 feet of you. The chosen creature must make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, the creature takes 1d6 + your Charisma modifier bludgeoning damage and is restrained until the end of your next turn as roots spring up and grasp it. When you reach 10th level in this class, the damage this feature deals increases to 2d6 + your Charisma modifier.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Nature's Magic

At 6th level, your patron grants you access to the magic of nature. You learn the druidcraft cantrip. It counts as a warlock cantrip for you, but doesn't count against the number of warlock cantrips you know.

Additionally, you may perform a 10-minute ritual and choose a spell from the Druid's spell list. The spell must be of a level equal to or lower than your Warlock spell slots. Until you next finish a long rest, you may cast the chosen spell once at the same level as your warlock spell slots without expending a spell slot, this spell counts as a warlock spell for you when you do.

Once you've used this feature, you may not use it again until you finish a long rest.

Solitude by Piotr Dura

Tree's Grasp

Starting at 10th level, the grip of your roots is stronger. Whenever a creature fails a saving throw against your grasping roots feature, they are restrained for one minute instead of until the end of your next turn. They may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending all effects on a success. While a creature is restrained this way, you cannot use your grasping roots feature on them again.

Form of the Forest

Starting at 14th level, you gain the ability to transform into a tree-like being, a guardian of the forests. As an action, you gain the following benefits for 10 minutes when you do:

  • Saving throws made against your grasping roots feature have disadvantage.
  • You gain a number of temporary hitpoints equal to twice your Warlock level.
  • You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage.

Once you've used this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
