School of Geomancy

School of Geomancy

Can you hear her, Remeron? Mother earth? Down below us, how she grumbles and shifts? How she shakes in her sleep and leaves devastation in her wake? She speaks to me, she sings in my ears. That is my calling. Not your trees or Hymerios' songs of destruction. No, the world itself.

An Arcane Tradition

Geomancers are wizards who have dedicated their lives to the study and understanding of earth, stone and sand and to all the geological forces that shape their world.

Geomancy Savant

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a Geomancy spell (see the geomancy spell table below) into your spellbook is reduced. For each level of the geomancy spell, the process of copying it only takes 30 minutes and costs 15 gp.

Geomancy Spell List
Spell level Spells
1st Absorb Elements, Earth Tremor, Shield
2nd Dust Devil, Earthbind, Maximilian's Earthen Grasp
3rd Erupting Earth, Galder's Tower, Wall of Sand
4th Conjure Minor Elementals, Stoneskin, Stoneshape
5th Conjure Elemental, Transmute Rock, Wall of Stone
6th Flesh to Stone, Investiture of Stone, Move Earth
7th Reverse Gravity
8th Mighty Fortress
9th Invulnerability

Earth Shaper

Also when you choose this subclass at 2nd level, you learn to shape and change the ground around you. You learn the mold earth cantrip and it doesn't count against the number of cantrips you can learn as shown in the wizard table. You can use this spell to effect a 10 foot cube of earth instead of a 5 foot one when you cast it.

Additionally, as an action, you may touch the ground. When you do you may choose a number of creatures you can see equal to your proficiency bonus. Nonmagical terrain within 20 feet of the point you touched becomes difficult terrain for all creatures except the creatures you chose. This effect lasts for 1 minute, or until you dismiss it as a bonus action or use this feature again. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

When you reach certain levels in this class, you may extend the radius of the effected terrain when you use this feature.

Lodstone Magnetite Sorcerer and Golem by Lucas Parolin

At level 6 you may extend it up to 30 feet. At level 10 you may extend it up to 40 feet. At level 14 you may extend it up to 50 feet.

Quicksand

At 6th level, you've learned how to make the earth itself stop your enemies. Whenever a creature moves 5 or more feet in difficult terrain created by a spell you cast or by your earth shaper feature, as a reaction you may force that creature to make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, that creature's speed becomes 0 until the end of your next turn.

Shield of Stone

At 10th level, you learn how to use your geomancy to protect people from harm. When you, or a creature you can see within 30 feet of you, are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to create a stone or earthen shield and attempt to deflect it. The target of the attack gains a bonus to their AC equal to your proficiency bonus until the start of their next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Earth Mastery

At 14th level, you geomancy is unparalleled. Whenever you cast a geomancy spell or use your earth shaper feature, you may choose to activate one of the following additional effects:

Earth sense. You gain a tremorsense of 60 feet for 1 minute.

Magma burst. You choose a creature you can see within 60 feet of you, the chosen creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or take fire damage equal to 1d10 + half your Wizard level and be pushed up to 10 feet in a direction of your choosing.

Minor earthquake. Each creature within 10 feet of you must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC or take bludgeoning damage equal to 1d8 + your Intelligence modifier and be knocked prone.

Stone's protection. You, or a willing creature within 30 feet of you that you can see, gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage until the end of your next turn.
