Fighter, Paladin and Warlord Subclass
The Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr - known also as bannerets - are knights who inspire greatness in others by committing brave deeds in battle. The mere presence of one in a hamlet is enough to cause some orcs and bandits to seek easier prey. A lone banneret is a skilled warrior, but a banneret leading a band of allies can transform even the most poorly equipped militia into a ferocious war band.
Bonus Proficiency
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Persuasion skill. If you are already proficient in it, you gain proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Animal Handling, Insight or Performance.
In addition, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses Persuasion.
Rallying Cry
Also starting at 3rd level, you learn how to inspire your allies to fight on past their injuries. You can use an action to shout a great battle cry. Choose up to three creatures within 30 feet of you, which can include you. If the targets can hear you, each one gains temporary hit points equal to your Purple Dragon Knight level + your Charisma modifier.
Fighter, Warlord
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. Starting at 10th level, you can use this ability twice in between rests, and three times at 18th level.
Paladin
Rallying Cry uses your Channel Divinity. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Purple Dragon's Roar
At 7th level, your battle cry inspires allies and intimidates enemies. When you use your Rallying Cry feature, you can force each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). A target automatically succeeds on the save if it can't hear or see you. On a failed save, a target becomes frightened for 1 minute.
If the frightened target takes any damage, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Inspiring Surge
Fighter and Warlord Feature
Starting at 10th level, your voice fills your comrades with determination. When you use your Rallying Cry feature, creatures that gain temporary hit points can also use their reaction to make one weapon attack against an enemy within their range. You choose the order in which your allies’ attacks resolve.
Bulwark
Starting at 15th level, your battle cry strengthens the will of your allies. If a creature has temporary hit points granted by your Rallying Cry feature, it also has advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma saving throws.
Legend of Cormyr
Paladin Feature
At 20th level, you can assume the form reminiscent of a legendary purple dragon. Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 hour, you gain the following benefits:
- Spectral draconic wings appear on your back, giving you a flying speed of 60 feet.
- You exert a frightening, dragon-like presence. When you take the Attack action, each creature in a 30-foot radius must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you for 1 minute. If the frightened target takes any damage, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success.
- Once before the effect ends, you can use a bonus action to awaken reserves of courage in allies that they never suspected they had. Choose up to three creatures within 30 feet of you, which can include you. If the targets can hear you, they can make one weapon attack as a reaction. You choose the order in which your allies’ attacks resolve.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Fighter, Paladin and Warlord?
Purple Dragon Knight is a cross-class subclass. It can be taken by Fighter, Paladin and Warlord.
Paladin: Gains features at 3rd, 7th, 15th and 20th level + Aura improvement at 18th level.
Fighter and Warlord: Gain features at 3rd, 7th, 10th and 15th level + Aura improvement / 3rd use of Rallying Cry at 18th level.
