Boots of Striding and Springing

Slot: Boots

Credit: Image from D&D Beyond

A pair of soft leather boots with polished steel soles and fabric stockings that cover the lower shin. A trio of leather straps on each boot secure them in place; while worn your steps feel lighter and softer, as if all your equipment and clothing has vanished from your body.

Item Details

This item requires attunement to benefit from its enchantment. Once attuned, you must wear the boots in order to gain their effects. Separated Boots do not grant any benefits to whoever wears, and attunement will be broken if one of the Boots is 100ft or further away for over an hour even if one of the Boots is still worn or within range.

Effects

"It was the strangest thing. There's us, wearing what you should when going through swampland, struggling across muck and slime to find the remains of the path after that flood washed through. Lo and behold, this big bugger in full plate comes striding through as if walking down a city street, not a care in the world as they crouch and vault up and onto this big chunk of stone jutting from the water.""

  • Your Walking Speed becomes 30 feet, unless it is already higher
  • Your speed is not reduced by encumbrance or heavy armour
  • Your capacity for jumping is tripled, though you cannot exceed your remaining movement distance

The enchantment on these Boots protects the wearer from any long distance impacts due to their use; they do not provide any effect on uncontrolled falls. Landing on your Boots without having used their effect will not spare you from any damage, and will simply crush your legs into your abdomen and/or torso. -Artificer Yordan, excerpt from 'Owner's Guide to Types of Magical Boots'
