The swarm can’t regain hit points or gain temporary hit points. > > \columnbreak > > ***Under the Skin.*** Corpse worms can infest other creatures. For every corpse worm infesting it, a creature takes 2 (1d4) piercing damage at the start of each of its turns. As an action, the host or an adjacent creature can attempt a DC 10 Wisdom (Medicine) check, removing a single worm on success. A worm can also be removed by dealing 1 fire damage to the host, but only before the end of the host's first turn after infestation. Effects that can cure disease eliminate all infesting worms. > > ### Actions > ***Bites.*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* +3 to hit, reach 0 ft., one creature in the swarm’s space. *Hit:* The target is infested by 1 corpse worm, plus 1 additional worm for every three points by which the attack beat the target's AC, plus 1 additional worm on a critical hit. Corpse worms are large maggots, the size of small sausages, that primarily feast on dead and decaying flesh. However, their rapacious appetites make them a danger to the living as well, as they burrow under the skin and consume creatures from the inside out. A creature infested by corpse worms is doomed unless the worms can be removed, usually by digging or burning the infested flesh. They are rarely a danger alone, but when they collect into swarms, can pose a threat to even the mightiest creatures. Corpse worm swarms are only kept in check by their ferocious hunger, as they rapidly consume all available food and are forced to turn on one another. \pagebreakNum ### Changelog #### v{current-version} * Updated art and license #### v0.2 * Significant reformatting to stat block #### v0.1 * Initial Release \columnbreak > ##### Credits & References: > Swarm of Corpse Worms created by [somanyrobots](https://www.somanyrobots.com "somanyrobots.com") > [Discord](https://discord.gg/6p6DqCxTTw "Discord") | [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/somanyrobots "patreon.com/somanyrobots") > ___ > ##### Art > Corpse Worm, by [Will Roqq](https://naosouwill.artstation.com/ "Artstation Will Roqq") >___ > ##### Background Image Stains > [Jared Ondricek](https://watercolors.giantsoup.com/) > ___ > ##### License > * © 2024 somanyrobots, [CC BY-NC 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/2.0/) > ___ > ##### 5E SRD Content > * This work includes material taken from the System Reference Document 5.1 (“SRD 5.1”) by Wizards of the Coast LLC, [available here](https://dnd.wizards.com/resources/systems-reference-document "SRD 5.1"). > > * The SRD 5.1 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License [available here](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode "CC-BY").
