Otherworldly       Patron

Warlocks gain access to the Otherworldly Patron feature at 1st level. Here is a new option for this feature, in addition to the ones presented in the Player's Handbook.

The Fallen

Celestials are known by their Grace, an innate connection to the divinity that forged them that fills them with purpose and power. Whether Grace is but a celestial social construct or a facet of a celestial's very being is a matter of scholarly debate, but what isn't is the status of those who have lost their Grace. Cast from the upper planes and forever altered, your patron is an entity that has fallen to this shift of fundament, now forced to roam the depraved quagmire of the outer planes, gathering knowledge of dark magics that they share with you alongside the heavenly wisdom they have accrued from their former life in Grace. Though many disgraced celestials are angels, a fall is a threat to all, from empyreans to unicorns to ki-rin, and the threat of corruption looms over even the holiest of celestial beings, from minor servants to a god's right hand.

Expanded Spell List

The Fallen lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Fallen Expanded Spells
Spell Level Spells
1st detect evil and good, inflict wounds
2nd blindness/deafness, spiritual weapon
3rd life transferenceXGE, spirit guardians
4th divination, staggering smite
5th dispel evil and good, insect plague

Disgraced Divinity

When you choose this patron at 1st level, you gain the ability to call upon your patron's fractured Grace, for weal and woe. You have a pool of d4s that you spend to fuel this ability. The number of dice in the pool equals 1 + your warlock level. Your pool regains all expended dice when you finish a long rest.

You can use a bonus action and spend any number
of dice from your pool to bless or curse a number of
creatures equal to the dice spent. You choose whether
each affected creature is blessed or cursed, the effects of
which are listed below, and which lasts until the start of your next turn. If a creature you choose is unwilling, it must make a Charisma saving throw against your warlock spell save DC, resisting the curse or blessing on a success.

Bless. Whenever the creature makes an attack roll or
saving throw, it rolls a d4 and adds the result to the attack roll or saving throw.

Curse. Whenever the creature makes an attack roll or saving throw, it rolls a d4 and subtracts the result from the attack roll or saving throw.

Wings of Abaddon

By 6th level, you can use a reaction to summon a withered set of angelic wings to wreath your body when you take damage. You reduce the damage taken by a roll of half the maximum number of dice in your Disgraced Divinity pool (rounded up), and can then immediately fly up to 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks, after which the wings vanish. You can't use this feature again until finish a short or long rest.

Celestial Resilience

Starting at 10th level, you are suffused by the remains of your patron's divinity. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, or exhausted. In addition, choose either radiant or necrotic when you finish a short or long rest. You gain resistance to the chosen damage type until you choose a different type.

Aspect of the Fallen One

At 14th level, you can use an action to embrace the aspects of your patron, taking on a form both beautiful and terrible to behold. You gain the following benefits for the next hour, until you are incapacitated, or until you choose to end the effect (no action required).

  • Your eyes shine with a sickly golden light and withered wings unfurl from your back. You have truesight out to a range of 120 feet, can always tell if you hear a lie, and you gain a flying speed of 60 feet.
  • When you deal damage to a creature with a spell, weapon attack, or warlock feature, you can choose for the creature to suffer additional radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) equal to your Charisma modifier.

You can use this feature once, and regain the ability to do so when you finish long rest.
