Half-Goblin

Although goblinoids have often come to blows with humans and their allies, it is not entirely unheard of for the two factions to peacefully live side-by-side — especially if a common, more dangerous threat encourages them to join forces. Half-goblins who choose a life of adventure have a reputation for deviousness, mischief, and obnoxious jesting.

Half-goblins can be the product of intermarriages between goblinoids and other humanoids, although they are often looked down upon outside of human or halfling lands where half-goblins are most common. Additionally, intermingling between the goblinoid races can result in hybrid offspring as well. As a consequence, body types range wildly among half-goblins, from short and hairless to tall and covered in fur.

Whatever their origins, half-goblins tend to be a scrappy lot. They usually live by pragmatic, cynical values as a means to survive.

Half-Goblin Traits

As a half-goblin, you have the following traits.

Creature Type. You are a Humanoid.

Size. You are Small or Medium.

Speed. Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Tricksy. You are proficient in the Deception skill.

Surprise Attack. If you surprise a creature and hit it with an attack on your first turn in combat, the attack deals an extra 2d6 damage to it. You can use this trait only once per combat.

Vicious Insult. You can use a bonus action to mercilessly taunt one creature within 30 feet of you. If the creature can hear you, it must make a Wisdom saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failed save, the creature has disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of your next turn.

You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
