# Way of the Flowing Ki - 5E Homebrew Monk Subclass ### by Nines, V1.1 Ki. A mysterious energy present in all living things. While all monks learn to manipulate their own ki, monks that study the Way of the Flowing Ki learn to manipulate the ki of other creatures, drawing it into themselves to bolster their own abilities. ## Subclass Features ### Ever-Living Ki When you take this subclass at 3rd level, your strikes siphon off the energy of your enemies. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can siphon off their energy, gaining temporary Hit Points equal to one roll of your Martial Arts dice plus your proficiency bonus. ### Energy Drain Starting at 6th level, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can attempt to latch onto the target's ki in order to drain it as part of the same action. The target is forced to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target's ki is marked for 1 minute or until you lose your concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell), the target takes necrotic damage equal to three times your Martial Arts dice, and you regain hit points equal to the amount of necrotic damage dealt. In addition, you can force the marked target to make this save again as a bonus action on each of your following turns. On a successful save, the target takes half the necrotic damage and you do not regain hit points. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you take a long rest, unless you expend 3 ki points to use it again.

When you succeed on a Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution saving throw and you aren't incapacitated, you can spend 1 ki point and your reaction to choose an ally within 60 feet of you that failed its saving throw against the same effect. The creature can reroll its saving throw and must use the new roll. ### Overflowing Heart At 17th level, you can deter attackers with the force of your ki alone. As a reaction to being targetted by a weapon attack or spell, you can spend 3 ki points to force the attacker to make a Wisdom save. On a failed save, the triggering attack or spell is canceled, and attacker's turn immediately ends, as you sap their will to fight.
