# Monastic Tradition # Way of the Weave The Weave is considered to be many things, one of which is a source of magic. Spellcasters of both divine and arcane origins can use the Weave to bend and manipulate the universe to their will. Weave Monks, through subtle and precise control of their Ki, learn how to replicate these abilities ### ## Ki Spellcasting *3rd-level Way of the Weave feature* ___ When you adopt this Monastic Tradition, you learn how to manipulate the weave by using your Ki. See page 82 of Basic Rules for the general rules of spellcasting. #### Cantrips You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn an additional wizard cantrip of your choice at 11th level. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard cantrips you know with another from the wizard spell list. #### Ki Unlike other spellcasters you expend Ki to cast your spells. The amount of Ki you need to expend depends on the spell's level, as shown in the Ki Spellcasting table. The Spell Level column of the Ki Spellcasting table also shows your maximum spellcasting level. Spells learned through this feature can only be cast using Ki. Furthermore, Ki cannot be used to cast any other spells. ___ The Ki flowing through your body also allows it to function as a spellcasting focus for this feature's spells. \columnbreak #### Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher You learn three 1st-level spells of your choice from the wizard spell list. ___ The Spells Known column of the Ki Spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. These spells cannot exceed your maximum spellcasting level. ___ Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level which you can cast. #### Spellcasting Ability Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your spells. Use the following to calculate your spell save DC and spell attack modifier: ___ **Spell save DC** = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier ___ **Spell attack modifier** = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier #### Ki Spellcasting Table | Monk Level | Spell Level | Ki Cost | Spells Known | |:----:|:-------------:|:-:|:-:| | 3rd | 1st | 2 | 3 | | 6th | 2nd | 3 | 5 | | 11th | 3rd | 5 | 7 | | 17th | 4th | 6 | 9 |

You gain additional Ki equal to half your monk level (round up); this Ki can only be used to cast spells and is recovered by completing a long rest. ## Somatic Fighting *6th-level Way of the Weave feature* ___ You've learn how to blend your martials arts with your spellcasting. When you cast a spell as an action, you can use your bonus action to make an unarmed strike. ___ Additionally, if you take the Attack action on your turn you can cast a cantrip that has a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action. You can do so a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 1 ki point to use this feature again.

The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of your next turn. ___ Only spells learned through Ki Spellcasting are compatible with this feature. ## Dodge and Weave *17th-level Way of the Weave feature* ___ You’ve mastered your control of the Weave. You can use your reaction to extract threads of magical residue from a spell which has missed you, or that you have succeeded your save against. Extracting this residue amplifies the next spell you cast in one of the following ways (your choice); * Targets of the spell have disadvantage on the first saving throw they make against the spell. * You can add half your monk level (round down) to one damage roll. ___ You can use this feature twice, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 2 ki point to use this feature again.
