Artificer: Divine Architect

Some artificers aren't content to make mundane marvels, but have the will or arrogance to seek to create their creators themselves, stealing power from the planes to grant mortals power beyond their station. These artificers are considered heretics by many and usually serve in positions of authority in grim cults to self proclaimed deities.

Tool Proficiency

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith’s tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Divine Architect Spells

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Godsmith Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Divine Architect Spell List

Artificer Level Spell
1st command, guiding bolt, thaumaturgy
5th enhance ability, spiritual weapon
9th dawn, magic circle
13th aura of purity, freedom of movement
17th destructive wave, holy weapon

Imbue Divinity

At 3rd level, you learn to kindle a spark of divinity within mortals. Over the course of a long rest, you can use your smith's tools to create a Deific Siphon, a conduit and storage device for divine power. You can only have one at a time, and you can use it as a spell casting focus. Roll or select an option on the table to determine it's appearance, As a bonus action while holding your Deific Siphon, you can choose a creature within 30 feet of you. You imbue them with holy or unholy power, and they gain the following benefits for 10 minutes or until you lose concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell) :

  • Once per round when they make an attack roll, ability check or saving throw, they can add a d4 to the result. This does not stack with any other bonus to these rolls given by a spell.
  • Whenever they deal damage with an attack, they deal an extra 1d4 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice when you activate the ability).
  • They emit dim light out to 5 feet, and have advantage on any Charisma based skill check they make.

The die used by this ability changes as you gain levels in this class, becoming a d6 at 5th level, a d8 at 9th level and a d10 and 15th level.

Once you use this feature a number of times equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded up), you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest or expend a spell slot to use it again.

Hand of God

Also at 3rd level, you can channel the long reach of the immortals into yourself. As an action, you can make a melee spell attack against a target within 20 feet of you. On a hit, they take radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) damage equal to 1d8 + your Intelligence modifier. When you reach certain levels in this class, you can make an additional spell attack as part of this action, becoming 2 at 5th level, 3 at 11th level and 4 at 17th level. These do not need to target the same creature.

Enduring Power

Starting at 5th level, when you use Imbue Divinity, it gains one of the following benefits:

  • The duration becomes 1 hour.
  • It does not require concentration, but it ends early if you use it again.

Improved Divinity

Starting at 9th level, you can imbue even more power into the undeserving. While a creature is under the effect of Imbue Divinity, it gains the following benefits:

  • The creature gains a flying speed of 30 feet, as spectral wings burst from it's back.
  • When the creature is hit by an attack by an attacker it can see within 30 feet of it, it can use it's reaction to deal radiant damage to the creature equal to 1d8 + your Intelligence modifier.

True Divinity

At 15th level your powers of ascension grow even greater. While a creature is under the effect of Imbue Divinity, it gains the following benefits:

  • When you activate the ability, select one ability score. It becomes 22 for the duration.
  • It gains resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage.
  • It lasts until dispelled.
