Owlbear Cub
Small and fuzzy, these baby owlbears roam the woodlands and the tundra of the various planes of existence in the shadow of an elder owlbear. Like their fully grown counterpart, owlbear cubs sport the same serrated beak and razer sharp claws that they are known for. Owlbear cubs are very playful, teaching them how to protect themselves and build their strength.
An owlbear will typically give birth to less than five cubs, averaging around three every breeding cycle. Cubs usually stay with their mothers from anywhere between one and a half to two years before being sent off on their own. Owlbear siblings may remain together for up to another year for protection as they learn how to best tackle the environment and establish territory.
Rarely, an owlbear cub can become separated from their family and end up in the arms of a traveler. Owlbears that are trained from a young age can become a strong guard animal or an effective war beast. Rangers from the tundra often tame owlbears for riding purposes, for their natural mobility.

Primal Owlbear
Some owlbear's learn to become stronger forces in their native environment. These are known as primal owlbears, creatures that have grown far larger and bulkier than their lesser kin. Primal owlbears are rare, only found in the deep wilderness. Unprepared and unwitting adventurer's that stumble upon one rarely survive, but those that do tell of their relentless power and their aggression.
Primal owlbears have a much larger territory than their regular cousins, with single individuals capable of ruling over a hundred miles of dense terrain. Fights between primal owlbears are common place in the deep forests.
In Aetheria, primal owlbears can only be found in the wilds of Denarius, where other titanic creatures many times larger than their other planar folk can be found.

War Owlbear
Owlbear's can be unpredictable and deadly, but when they are trained from birth their ferocity can be controlled and weaponised. War owlbears are the result of thousands of hours of training and perfection, creating a resilient and deadly owlbear with layers of plate armour mounted on their frame. Their thick skin and the metal plates make them durable war beasts against even the strongest weapons.
Outside a few isolated tribes, only one of the major armies in Sanctum use war owlbears: Cerulea. The Azure Legion has become synonymous with their uses of owlbears instead of horses, giving them a distinct advantage over their rivals in Cerise. While they are difficult to control at the best of times, the Azure Legion has discovered that a symbiotic relationship with an owlbear since birth hones their natural territorial instincts into one of defense of their rider.
