Oath of the Wanderer

The Oath of the Wanderer Paladin seeks a great truth; a truth that many others have searched for. To find this truth, they swear an oath to travel throughout the world, learning as much as they can and sharing their wisdom with others.

Goals

d6 Goal
1 You seek to learn whether free will exists, or whether your actions are predetermined.
2 You seek to learn how and why the universe came to be.
3 You seek to learn whether a true definition of morality exists, or whether the beings that exemplify it are just reflections of current society.
4 You seek to learn whether there's a meaning to existence, or if there are multiple meanings, or no meanings.
5 You seek to learn what exists beyond the multiverse we're familiar with, whether in space, the Far Realm, or somewhere else.
6 You seek to learn whether anything is real, or if consciousness is a lie created by higher beings.

Tenets of the Wanderer

The tenets of the Oath of the Wanderer drive a paladin to travel the world in search of great knowledge.

Search. Search for knowledge in every corner of the world; travel is not just to move from one place to another, but an opportunity to learn as well.

Observe. Be willing to accept the viewpoints of others: do not harm others for the sole reason that their beliefs are different than yours, and try to see the world from others' perspectives.

Persevere. Be steadfast in your journey; the longest, roughest roads are the ones that hold the most wisdom for those that overcome them.

Share. Do not keep your knowledge to yourself; truth should be shared among those that seek it.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of the Wanderer Spells
Paladin Level Spells
3rd goodberry, comprehend languages
5th alter self, locate animals or plants
9th haste, thunder step
13th freedom of movement, locate creature
17th legend lore, contact other plane

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Eyes of the Seeker. You can use your Channel Divinity to imbue others with divine wisdom. As an action, you may expend your Channel Divinity on yourself or an ally that you can see. For the next hour, they have advantage on Insight, Perception, and Investigation checks.

Inviting Energy. You can use your Channel Divinity to draw others closer to you. Choose an enemy within 60 ft that you can see. For up to 1 minute, the enemy must use at least 5 feet of their movement on each of their turns to approach you. In addition, while this effect is active, the enemy may not retreat from you. At the start of its turn, the enemy must make a Wisdom saving throw against your paladin spell save DC, ending the effect on a success.

Aura of Endurance

Starting at 7th level, you constantly emit an aura while you're not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. You and any allies in your aura are unable to be put to sleep against their will, and are immune to gaining exhaustion levels.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Determined Traveler

At 15th level, your steadfast nature has allowed you to better survive attacks. You gain +1 to your Armor Class. In addition, once per turn, you may reduce the damage of any attack made by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, gaining uses after a long rest.

Enlightened Wanderer

At 20th level, you gain strength from the knowledge you've gained throughout your travels. When you focus yourself, as an action, you are able to reach a state of pure enlightenment that grants you the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You have advantage on all Strength, Wisdom, and Constitution saving throws.
  • You gain 120 ft. of truesight.
  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed and can hover.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a 5th-level spell slot to use it again.
