Warlock Patron: Ancient Wyrm
Warlocks that get their abilities from Ancient Wyrms have a powerful draconic creature as their patron. Whether they helped a polymorphed ancient dragon, had a run-in with a benevolent dragon turtle, or otherwise gained the favor of such a draconic creature, Ancient Wyrm warlocks have been given some powerful draconic features. The Wyrms typically encourage their warlocks to acquire vast wealth and influence in order that they may get a share of the reward.
Expanded Spell List
The Ancient Wyrm lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you:
| Spell Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | Burning Hands, Chromatic Orb |
| 2nd | Dragon's Breath, Rime's Binding Ice |
| 3rd | Ashardalon's Stride, Elemental Weapon |
| 4th | Raulothim's Psychic Lance, Vitriolic Sphere |
| 5th | Cone of Cold, Summon Draconic Spirit |
Essence of the Dragon
Starting at 1st level, your patron enhances your natural body, causing you to manifest draconic features such as scales and claws. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Constitution modifier. Your unarmed strikes count as melee weapons with the light and finesse properties, and deal 1d6 slashing damage, instead of the usual bludgeoning damage.
Additionally, you can speak, read, and write Draconic, and you gain proficiency in Intimidation and Persuasion. You also have advantage on Charisma checks when interacting with dragons.
Wyrm Breath
At 1st level, you can use your action to channel the destructive power of your draconic patron and unleash a breath attack of elemental damage. Choose one of the following damage types: Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Poison. You can pick whether to exhale a 15ft cone or a 20ft line that is 5ft wide. Creatures in the area of your breath attack must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your warlock spell casting DC. On a failure, they take 1d8 + your Charisma modifier of the chosen damage type, or half damage on a success. The damage of this breath weapon increases by 1d8 whenever you gain an additional level in the warlock class. Additionally, the size of the breath attack increases when you reach certain levels in the warlock class. At 5th level, you can create a 30ft cone or a 60ft line. At 11th level, you can create a 60ft cone or a 90ft line. At 17th level, you can create a 90ft cone or a 120ft line.
You can use your Wyrm breath a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Frightful Presence
Beginning at 6th level, the gifts of your patron have made your very presence one of awe and wonder, and you gain the ability to project the fearsome presence of a dragon. As a bonus action, you can cause each creature you choose within 60ft of you that can see or hear you to make a Charisma saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. Creatures that fail their saving throws are frightened by you for 1 minute, and can repeat the saving throw at the end of each their subsequent turns. While frightened in this way, a creature has disadvantage on saving throws against your spells and Wyrm Breath, and your attacks against it have advantage.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Draconic Movement
At 10th level, your patron bestows upon you the ability to manifest additional draconic features. As a bonus action, you can give yourself a burrowing, climbing, swimming, or flying speed equal to your walking speed for 1 hour. Additionally, your base walking speed increases by 15ft.
You can only have one extra movement speed from this feature at a time. Using this feature again while under the effects of a previous use causes the first effect to end early.
Wyrm Form
Starting at 14th level, you can cast Draconic Transformation without expending a spell slot or material components.
