Chosen of Eilistraee

A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow.”

— The Message of Eilistraee

You are a chosen of the drow goddess Eilistraee, who has blessed your soul with a touch of her divinity. As a sorcerer with this Sorcerous Origin, you are free to pursue your own path, but your soul will always be drawn to her ideals. Just like Elistraee, her chosen (also known as moon dancers) often share her love for beauty, song, dance, freedom, moonlight, swordwork, and hunting, as well as her disgust for evildoers.

Restriction: Drow Only

Only drow and half-elves with drow ancestry can choose the Chosen of Eilistraee sorcerous origin. Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign.

Training in Song and Dance

At 1st level, you gain proficiency with longswords, and a longsword has the finesse property when you wield it. A longsword counts as a spellcasting focus for you. When not wearing armor and not wielding a shield, your AC becomes 12 + your Dexterity modifier.

You also gain proficiency in the Performance skill.

Moonsong

Starting at 1st level, you can awaken the Drow magic within you called the Moonsong, provided that you aren’t wearing any armor or using a shield. You can use a bonus action to start the Moonsong, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you don armor or a shield, or if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon. You can also dismiss the Moonsong at any time (no action required). While your Moonsong is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Charisma Modifier (minimum of 1).
  • Your movement speed increases by 10 feet and you are unaffected by difficult terrain.
  • If you move at least 20 feet without moving to the same space twice, you gain advantage on the next melee weapon attack you make that turn.
  • Creatures have disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Sword Dancer

At 6th level, when you use your action to cast or use a spell, you can make one melee weapon attack as a bonus action.

Additionally, when you make an Acrobatics skill check, you can add your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) to the check.

Moonsong Encore

Starting at 14th level, your successful strikes invigorate you, as you dance around the battlefield. Whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack during your moonsong, you regain 1d8 hit points, deal radiant damage to the target equal to that amount, and if it is your turn then your speed is increased by 10 feet for that turn. You can only trigger this effect once per creature per turn.

Waltz of the Dark Maiden

At 18th level, you learn the otto's irresistible dance spell which doesn't count against your number of sorcerer spells known, and you can cast it by spending 5 sorcery points. When you cast this spell during your moonsong, you can cast it as a bonus action and it doesn't require concentration, but you can only affect up to one creature with this spell at a time.
