Half-Hag Race

Race Details

When a hag spawn reaches 13 years of age, she succumbs to the curse and transform into the spitting image of her hag mother. Some individuals are fortunate enough to receive help in time, one way or another, and manage to avoid completely turning into a hag. However, their blood is forever tainted by the lingering curse that refuses to die.

Half-Hag Traits

You lost your original race and gender when the hag consumed you, and spawned as a human girl from her.

Although you have avoided to undergo the full transformation, your abilities are starting to develop and you count as fey (fiend, if you are half night hag) as well as humanoid.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Age

While you keep the curse at bay, you age like a human would. However, upon death, or if you become too weak to hold back the curse, you transform into the spitting image of your hag mother, thereby losing your humanity.

Alignment

Half-hags tend toward no particular alignment before the curse takes over, but they usually look up to the people that helped them keep the curse at bay before the transformation.

Size

Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Because of the taint coursing your blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Moonlit Revelations

Since the transformation never took place when it should have, your true appearance is that of a human. In the Feywild, your appearance is more heavily weighted by the curse than in the Material Plane, and it becomes a mix of your hag mother and your own features.

However, when the light of a full moon shines upon your skin, it reveals that same appearance, and creatures with true sight can see both of these forms at the same time.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and additional languages determined by the type of your hag mother.

Half Green Hag

Languages

You can also speak, read, and write Sylvan and Draconic.

Deceptive

You gain proficiency in Deception

Mimicry

You can mimic animal sounds and humanoid voices. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful Wisdom (Insight) check against your Charisma (Performance) check.

Innate Spellcasting

You know one cantrip of your choice between dancing lights, minor illusion and vicious mockery. You use Charisma as your spellcasting ability for it.

Half Night Hag

Languages

You can also speak, read, and write Abyssal and Infernal.

Magic Resistance

Starting at 6th level, you have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Innate Spellcasting

You can cast detect magic and disguise self with this trait, using Charisma as your spellcasting ability for them. Once you cast either spell, you can’t cast it again with this trait until you finish a short or long rest.

Half Sea Hag

Languages

You can also speak, read, and write Aquan and Giant.

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water and have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed.

Horrific Appearance

Starting at level 3 you can use your action to assume the appearance of your hag mother for an instant. Other creatures within 10 feet of you that can see you must each succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn and take necrotic damage equal to your level. On a successful save they take half that damage and aren't frightened.

Half Annis Hag

Languages

You can also speak, read, and write Giant and Sylvan.

Iron Token

You can pull out one of your teeth or nails and spend 1 hour shaping and polishing it into the form of a round token or a ring. Thereafter, any creature that holds this iron token can have a whispered conversation with you, provided you are both on the same plane of existence and within 10 miles of each other. The holder of the token can hear only your voice, not those of any other creatures or any ambient noise around the hag. Similarly, you can hear the holder of the token and not the noise around them.

As an action, you can discern the direction and whether or not the token is within 10 miles.

You may only have one of these tokens active at a time. Creating one makes the previous one inactive.

Half Bheur Hag

Languages

You can also speak, read, and write Auran and Giant.

Cold Heart

You have resistance to cold damage. Additionally, difficult terrain composed of ice or snow doesn’t cost you extra movement.

Innate Spellcasting

You learn the ray of frost cantrip and can cast hold person with this trait, using Charisma as your spellcasting ability for them. Once you cast either spell, you can’t cast it again with this trait until you finish a short or long rest.
