# Marilith Tiefling Subrace ## Race Details Wicked is the turn of fate that makes a tiefling kid manifest their Marilith descent upon birth, for if tieflings in general are unconciously distrusted, so much worse is the case of one who has half the body of a snake. ## Marilith Tiefling Traits Tieflings share certain racial traits as a result of their infernal descent. ### Ability Score Increase Your Dexterity score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2. ### Age Tieflings mature at the same rate as humans but live a few years longer. ### Alignment Tieflings might not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many of them end up there. Evil or not, an independent nature inclines many tieflings toward a chaotic alignment. ### Size Tieflings are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium. Your serpentine lower body is longer than it looks. When you move or stand normally, your head is 4 or 5 feet from the ground, but using your powerful tail muscles you can choose to stand erected over most of your tail, reaching 8 or 9 feet of height. >##### Rule tip: Changing appearance > As specified in the following spells: > > * Disguise self only works on your upper body. > * Alter self does not let you become bipedal or quadrupedal. ### Speed Your base walking speed is **30 feet**, and you have a swimming speed of **30 feet**. You have disadvantage on ability checks made to climb walls or similar structures, but have advantage in the case of tree-like structures. \columnbreak ### Darkvision Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. ### Hellish Resistance You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage ### Demonic Legacy Once per long rest and as a reaction, you can activate your Marilith ancestry to gain advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. As you gain levels, the infernal taint in your blood draws upon your power to give you access to other abilities: - At level 6, you can cast Misty Step once per short rest. - At level 13, you gain the ability to take two reactions between your turns. But once you do, you can only take one reaction per turn until you take a short rest. ### Languages You can speak, read, and write Common and Abyssal.
