Crafting
Crafting is the activity or hobby of making items by hand. Crafting may be an enjoyable pastime, but it can also be used as a means of income. This is because it is often much cheaper to craft your own items than it is to buy them from vendors.
Better yet, crafting can be invaluable for making useful items while on an adventure. Remember, the farther you venture into the unexplored parts of the world the less likely you are to come across Pokémarts.
Apricorns
Apricorn crafting allows you to make your own Pokéballs. You need an Apricorn Kit to make these items.
Apricorn Kit
The apricorn kit contains a mallet, chisel, and apricorn box that is used to store apricorn parts.
Shells and Casings
The first step to turning your apricorn into a Pokéball is breaking the shell into two parts. Casings, however, cannot be crafted, but are integral to building Pokéballs. Casings are cheap, but useless on their own. They can be purchased at most Pokémarts.
Crafting Apricorns
The mallet and chisel can be used to crack an apricorn into two halves and hollow out the shells. Each attempt to hollow out shells or fit them with casings will require a DC DEX check. The more complicated the Pokéball, the more difficult the check will be. If you are proficient with an Apricorn Kit you can add your proficiency modifier to these crafting rolls.
Pokéblocks
To prepare for Pokemon Contests, it is recommended to feed your Pokemon Pokéblocks. Pokéblocks are created by mixing certain Berries together in the Pokéblock Kit.
Pokéblocks will increase a Pokemon's Beauty, Cleverness, Coolness, Cuteness, or Toughness depending on the types of Berries used. It has been recently discovered that Pokéblocks may even aid in combat.
Pokéblock Kit
The Pokéblock kit contains a blender to mix the berries and a Pokéblock case to store Pokéblocks.
Crafting Pokéblocks
The blender can mix up to five berries to make a single Pokéblock. Each attempt to craft a Pokéblock will require a DC WIS check. The more potent the Pokéblock mixture is, the more difficult the check will be. If you are proficient with the Pokéblock Kit you can add your proficiency modifier to these crafting rolls.
Apricorns
To acquire shells you must break down an apricorn with the mallet and chisel from the Apricorn Kit. This will require a DC DEX check. On a success, you make two shells of that apricorn's color. On a failure, the apricorn is destroyed and no parts are salvageable.
Effects and Guidelines
- Apricorn components are kept in the Apricorn Box until the ball is completed.
- Once completed, the ball may be stored and used as a regular Pokéball.
Craft Apricorn Ball
- Casting Time: 1 hour
- Components: Apricorn Kit, Correct Shells, Correct Casing
You attempt to fit the casing into the shells. Make a Dexterity check. If you are proficient with the Apricorn Kit you may add your proficiency bonus.
The DC to craft the Apricorn ball depends on the complexity:
9 + Number of Shells + Casing Complexity
For Example
You are a Level 3 Trainer with a +2 proficiency with Apricorn Kits. You have a Dexterity ability score of 14, so you have a +2 Dexterity ability modifier. The DM knows you are trying to craft a basic Pokéball. For this you will need one red shell, one white shell, and one basic casing.
+Base Apricorn Crafting DC: 9
+Number of Shells: 2
+Casing Complexity: 1
= 12
With a +2 from your Dexterity modifier and a +2 from your Apricorn Kit proficiency, you would have to roll an 8 or higher on a Dexterity check to make a Pokéball.

Pokéblocks
Once the berries have been placed inside the Pokéblock blender, the blending process will require a DC WIS check. On a success, the Pokéblock will have maximum potency. On a failure, the Pokéblock will be half as potent. On a critical failure, the Pokéblock mixture is inedible to Pokémon.
Your Pokéblock case can hold up to six Pokéblocks at one time.
Effects and Guidelines
- 50 Energy can be used to give advantage on moves, skill checks, and saving throws.
- Pokémon can only receive the effect of one Pokéblock per day.
Craft Pokéblock
- Casting Time: 10 minutes
- Components: Pokéblock Kit, Berries (up to 5)
You place up to five berries inside a Pokéblock blender and attempt to mix them. Make a Wisdom check. If you are proficient with the Pokéblock Kit you may add your proficiency bonus.
The DC to craft the Pokéblock depends on the potency of the mixture:
5 + Pokéblock Highest Flavor/10 (rounded down)
For Example
You are a Level 3 Trainer with a +2 proficiency with Pokéblock Kits. You have a Wisdom ability score of 14, so you have a +2 Wisdom ability modifier. The DM knows the berry mixture you are attempting to make has a spicy flavor of 100.
+Base Pokéblock Crafting DC: 5
+Highest Flavor/10 (rounded down): (100/10) = 10
= 15
With a +2 from your Wisdom modifier and a +2 from your Pokéblock Kit proficiency, you would have to roll a 11 or higher on a Wisdom check to make a Red Pokéblock with maximum potency.

Egg Hatching and Breeding
A Pokémon Egg is an object from which most Pokémon are known to hatch. An Egg's shell will usually have a pattern that reflects the appearance of the Pokémon developing inside. It is worth mentioning that no one has ever seen a Pokémon lay an egg, and thus, it is not confirmed that this is how they appear.
General Rules
- At the beginning of each day/session, the egg holder makes an incubation check by rolling a d100. (The first check takes place when the trainer receives the egg.)
- That number is subtracted from the egg's hatch time.
- When the hatch time reaches 0, the egg hatches.
- Newly hatched Pokémon are Level 1.
- The first trainer the newly hatched Pokémon sees becomes its trainer.
- The DM decides what Pokémon is inside the egg before the trainer receives the egg.

- Rare Pokémon eggs may have unique incubation periods. Ex: Dratini has an SR of 1, but a hatch time of 1,000.
Incubation Rates
Accelerated Growth (May Hatch Early)
- Egg is kept in an Incubator except for hands on care
- Egg is kept at optimal temperature
- Egg is kept free from damage and knocking
Standard Growth (Will Hatch On Time)
- Egg is kept on or near trainer at all times
- Egg is kept at an acceptable temperature
- Egg sustains only minor damage (did not drop below 5 HP)
Stunted Growth (May Hatch Late)
- Egg has been poorly handled
- Egg is kept in a temperature that is too hot or cold
- Egg sustains heavy damage (dropped below 5 HP)
- Egg has been left in the PC for a long period of time (3-6 days total)
Bad Egg (Will Not Hatch)
- Egg is kept alone without interaction
- Egg is exposed to extreme heat or cold
- Egg's HP drops to 0
- Egg is kept in PC for an extended period of time (7+ days total)
Incubation Checks
- Accelerated Growth - Roll d100 with advantage
- Standard Growth - Roll d100
- Stunted Growth - Roll d100 with disadvantage
- Bad Egg - No further rolls made
Handling
Backpacks or Bags
For trainers on a budget, your bag or backpack can be a suitable place to hold your egg. It keeps it close to your body for heat, but can leave it vulnerable to shaking and damage if the trainer is attacked. Extra caution is advised when carrying an egg in your bag.
Incubators
Incubators are the recommended way to transport Pokémon eggs. Incubators are often sold in daycare centers and Pokémarts. The HP Bonus provided by the incubators is not to the egg itself, but more of a durability for the incubator.
Some Pokémon eggs may require complex or extreme environmental conditions for optimal growth. For this reason, some eggs may experience stunted growth if an incubator is unable to replicate the correct conditions.
Ex: A Slugma egg will thrive near the heat of volcanic magma. The same egg would struggle in a backpack or Basic Incubator
Incubator | Description | AC Bonus | HP Bonus | Cost |
---|---|---|---|---|
Basic | Used to replicate simple environmental conditions for an egg. | +1 | +10 | ₽500 |
Plus | Used to replicate complex environmental conditions for an egg. | +2 | +20 | ₽2,000 |
Super | Used to replicate extreme environmental conditions for an egg. | +4 | +40 | ₽5,000 |
Egg IVs
If a Pokémon egg spends its entire incubation period in a trainer's party the Pokémon receives an ability score improvement when it hatches.
Breeding
General Rules
- Baby Pokémon cannot breed. (Pichu, Igglybuff, etc.)
- Pokémon must be of opposite genders; one has to be male, the other female.
- The female Pokémon's species is the determining factor of the egg's species.
Ex: If the female is Charizard, then the egg will contain a Charmander.
- The male Pokémon is what decides the Egg Move that is passed down. One move is passed down by the male if the Pokémon is able to learn the move.
Ex: If a male Blastoise knows Aqua Ring, the Squirtle offspring will know Tackle, Tail Whip, and Aqua Ring when it hatches.
- More than one move may be passed down if both parents know the same moves and the Pokémon is able to learn each of them.
Ex: If a male and female Venusaur both know Vine Whip and Sleep Powder, their Bulbasaur offspring will know Tackle, Growl, Vine Whip, and Sleep Powder when it hatches.
Egg Moves
These are moves that a Pokémon does not normally learn from leveling up or through the use of TMs.
Possible Moves
- Level 1 moves.
- One move the offspring learns by level up (or compatible TM) known by the father.
- Any moves the offspring learns by level up if both parents know them.
- Any Egg Moves known by either parent.
Passing Down Abilities
- If a parent is holding an Everstone their ability is passed down.
- Trainers may choose to roll for a random ability.
Passing Down Natures
- Either parent's nature may be selected to be passed down.
- Trainers may choose to roll for a random nature.
Daycare Centers
Players can leave up to two Pokémon at a daycare center. They may be charged a fee per day depending on the location and care provided for the Pokemon that are left there. The egg group and Pokémon compatibility affect what the chances are of an egg being obtained. The success rolls are made with 1d20 by default (as some daycares and centers may have bonuses.)

Compatibility
When two Pokémon are left at a daycare there is a chance they will produce an egg.
- At the beginning of each day/session a check is made until an egg is produced.
- Once an egg is produced all checks stop until the egg is picked up.
- Compatible Pokémon receive a bonus based on their respective levels and species ratings.
Compatibility Example
For example, the compatibility between a Level 7 Scyther with an SR of 8 and a Level 6 Pinsir with an SR of 9 is calculated below:
= (Combined Level + Combined SR) / 5
= ((7 + 6) + (8 + 9)) / 5
= 30 / 5
Compatibility Bonus = 6
- The skill check to see if an egg has been produced is made by rolling a d20. The compatibility bonus of the Pokémon is added to the roll.
- The table below shows the DCs for different combinations of Pokémon to produce an egg:
Species | Caretaker Quote | Produce Egg DC |
---|---|---|
Same Species or Evolutionary Line | "The two seem to get along very well." | 14+ |
Different Species or Evolutionary Line | "The two seem to get along." | 20+ |
Different Egg Group, Same Gender, Undiscovered Group, or Both in Ditto Group | "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon." | No Egg |
Special Breeding Rules
Gender Counter-Part Breeding
Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Volbeat, and Ilumise are exceptions to the rule that the Pokémon from the egg must match the mother. The hatched Pokémon can be either the male or female version of the parent. In these cases, the trainer rolls a d100 and consults the gender ratio for the Pokémon as they would for a wild encounter.
Incense Breeding
The use of incense is required for certain baby Pokémon. These special items are often tricky to obtain, but they are highly sought after by people hoping to obtain rare baby Pokémon.
Munchlax and Snorlax
A Full Incense and a female Snorlax will produce an egg that will hatch into a Munchlax.
Wynaut and Wobbuffet
A Lax Incense with a female Wobbuffet will produce an egg that will hatch into a Wynaut.
Happiny, Chansey, and Blissey
A Luck Incense with a Chansey or Blissey will produce an egg that will hatch into a Happiny.
Chingling and Chimecho
A Pure Incense with a female Chimecho will produce an egg that will hatch into a Chingling.
Budew, Roselia, and Roserade
A Rose Incense with a female Roselia or Roserade will produce an egg that will hatch into a Budew.
Mantyke and Mantine
A Wave Incense with a female Mantine will produce an egg that will hatch into a Mantyke.
Mime Jr. and Mr. Mime
An Odd Incense with a Ms. Mime will produce an egg that will hatch into a Mime Jr.
Bonsly and Sudowoodo
A Rock Incense with a female Sudowoodo will produce an egg that will hatch into a Bonsly.
Azurill, Marill, and Azumarill
A Sea Incense with a female Marill or Azumarill will produce an egg that will hatch into an Azurill.
