College of Tragedy

Bards of the College of Tragedy are renowned for their beautiful, heart-wrenching music and stories. Masters of this art can stir the emotions and tug the heartstrings of any audience. In a world that craves romance and drama, tragedy is what makes it all feel real.

Song Without Words

Beginning at 3rd level, if you perform somber music for at least 1 minute, you can instill utter sorrow into the hearts of your audience. At the end of the performance, choose a number of humanoids within 60 feet of you who watched and listened to all of it, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one). Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be overwhelmed with sadness for the next hour.

Each affected creature has disadvantage on saving throws against being frightened and you have advantage on Charisma ability checks to interact with them. This has no effect on creatures that can't be sad (DM's discretion).

Tragic Downfall

At 3rd level, your music heralds an inevitable tragedy. As a bonus action, you can put a curse on a creature within 60 feet of you that can hear you, which lasts for 10 minutes. A creature can only have one of these curses at a time, and a remove curse spell will end it.

The next time the cursed creature succeeds on an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, it must first roll your Bardic Inspiration die and subtract the number rolled from the creature's roll, then the curse ends. If the creature fails this roll, it's frightened of you until the end of your next turn.

If a creature with this curse drops to 0 hit points, the closest hostile creature (of your choice) within 30 feet of it receives this curse.

Crippling Sorrow

At 6th level, you make the pain of sadness unbearable. When a creature fails a Wisdom saving throw, it takes psychic damage equal to your Bardic Inspiration die if it's cursed by your Tragic Downfall or frightened of you

Requiem

At 14th level, your enemies will lose all hope when their comrades fall. When you see a creature within 60 feet of you drop to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to remind onlookers of their mortality. Each of the fallen creature's allies within 60 feet of it that can hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become cursed by your Tragic Downfall.

After you use this feature, you can't do so again until you complete a short or long rest.
