Way of Duality

Monks who practice the Way of Duality understand the natural order of the world. They know that for every act of good there is also an equal act of evil committed. They are impartial and seek to maintain the balance between light and dark.

Forms of Duality

At 3rd level, you have learned how to manipulate the forces of light and dark. On your turn, you can spend 2 ki points to enter a form for 1 minute. While forms of duality is active, you can spend 1 ki point to switch forms.

Yin Form Once per turn, when you deal damage with an unarmed strike, you can deal additional necrotic damage equal to 1 + your Wisdom modifier.

Yang Form Once per turn, when you deal damage with an unarmed strike, you can deal additional radiant damage equal to 1 + your Wisdom modifier.

Strikes of Duality

Starting at 6th level, your mastery of ki and understanding of the natural order allows you to heighten your forms' offensive capabilities. While forms of duality is active, your forms gain an additional feature. The DC for these abilities is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.

Discord Strike While yin form is active, when you deal necrotic damage to a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend a ki point to force them to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is unable to regain hit points from any source until the end of your next turn.

Blinding Strike While yang form is active, when you deal radiant damage to a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend a ki point to unleash a flash of brilliance. The target and each creature within 5 ft of it must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is blinded until the end of your next turn.

Aura of Duality

Starting at 11th level, your forms have influenced your body, surrounding you in a protective aura. While forms of duality is active, your forms gain an additional feature:

Light's Influence While yin form is active, you gain resistance to radiant damage.

Shadow's Embrace While yang form is active, you gain resistance to necrotic damage.

Coalescence

Starting at 17th level, the influence of your forms have shaped both you and your ki, allowing you to access both forms at the same time. On your turn, when you activate forms of duality, you can instead spend 4 ki points to gain the benefits of both forms for 1 minute. While coalescence is active, the damage from yin form and yang form increases to 5 + your Wisdom modifier.
