Huey Tlatoani's Guide to Teotlalli
\pagebreak # Welcome to the Kingdoms of Teotlalli Blood, the very liquid that gives the gods their power. For the gods have bleed for the people and so shall the people bleed for the gods be it upon the altar, in the battlefield, or just a cut from a knife. All blood is appreciated, at least this was the case in the old world of the 5th Sun. People had abandoned their ways of sacrifice but even though blood was being spilt it was not enough for the god Huitzilopochtli. So Coyolxauhqui and her four hundred brothers caught up to Huitzilopochtli and decapitated his head and so the world went dark and Cipactli rose from the waters and devoured every living thing from people to animals. Nothing was safe from the jaws of Cipactli. However Mixcoatl came and wrapped his body around Cipactli’s neck and suffocated the eldritch abomination crocodile named Cipactli however in doing so that the world can live on Mixcoatl sacrificed himself to seal Cipactli and so the gods can create life again. ## Why make this campaign setting? I made this with the idea that there were a lot of campaign settings based on either european or asian cultures and I wanted to do something for the Mesoamerican cultures. While there is mostly Aztec inspiration I do plan on adding a new landmass with Mayan, Toltec, Olmec, Chichimeca, Tarascanos and so on and so forth. There are a lot of mesoamerican Civilizations and I can cover ALL of them in this small book but if I do get a lot of support from the Dungeons and Dragons community it will be my absolute pleasure to bring these cultures to you. \columnbreak

\pagebreakNum # Chapter 1 ## Nations of Teotlalli ### Lands of the North - Yohautlan (Land of Night) - Aristocracy #### Capital - Metzcualo (Eclipse of the Moon) #### Leader - Yayauhqui (Smoking Black Mirror) The capital of Yohautlan, Metzcualo is a dark city due to the many tall pecan trees on every road and on every property. The branches and leaves give a nice shade from the sun however without the light many crimes have been dealt; however not many have been brought to justice but the goddess Chantico looks over the houses of Metzcualo. With her flame brings even the most stone cold thieves sympathy. Camazoteca are refugees from Yaotlan however the Cipateca are hated by the Oceloteca. Tezcatlipoca lost his leg due to his battle with Cipactli. So there is bad blood between the two races. Quetzalcoatl gave Tezcatlipoca a prosthetic in the form of a large serpent. So the Quetzalteca and the Oceloteca get along just fine. Their “Tlatoani” is a weakling that is manipulated by Rogues of the Smoking Mirror but the true ruler of Yohautlan is Yayauqui the founder of the Rogues of the Smoking Mirror. Notable feature about Metzcualo is that it is surrounded by large tall pecan trees that give shade however thieves of the Jaguar easily slip through the shadows. ##### Common Races Humans Oceloteca Atlateca Camazoteca ### Lands of the South - Yaotlan (Land of War) A.K.A Maza Monarchy #### Capital - Huitzauhqui (Obsidian Blades) #### Leader - Necalli (Battle) After the fall of Itztli there were a few reforms in the government before it used to be an Oligarchy and the rulers were corrupt due to the Zealots of Huitzilopochtli so Maza was appointed as Cihua-Tlatoani and became a Hierarchy. While not ruling with absolute power she begat many sons and daughters. They grew up and became either generals, teachers, or nobles. Huitzauhqui is settled on a lake where the land has been molded into a shallow marsh but with determination the people of Yaotlan erupted a floating city reminiscent of Tenochtitlan. The God Huitzilopchtli went to the people as a mortal vessel and told them how everything was in the previous sun. He guided the people on how to build the city but for a price. The blood of 1,000 men every 52 years. The people complied and so they did so for the next few years however with the help of a woman called “La Bruja” learned a way to suck the blood out of a person's body without the person in question dying from blood loss. So when the next 52 years came along and people gathered with jugs of blood. Confused Huitzilopochtli asked “Where is the blood of my people.” The people told Huizilopochtli what they had done. Huitzilopchtli was enraged by this and he demanded who taught them such a thing. La Bruja stepped up and said “Huitzilopochtli, I adore you and your knowledge but things are different now I humbly ask you to accept this practice. Your people love you and did this out of love and respect.” Huitzilopochtli still enraged grabbed La Bruja by the arm and said to the people “I will leave you and you won’t have to drain your blood for me as long as you give me her life!” Huitzilopochtli said as he held La Bruja up by the arms. The people cried to let her go. Their cries were heard and Huitzlipochtli was reminded of his sister. He let La Bruja go as he said “I will allow you to do this but I demand for twice the amount of blood you have given here.” La Bruja then said to him “Anything you want...brother.” Huitzilpochtli gave her a smug smile and flew towards the mountains. In Huitzauhqui the are some racial injustice on the Camazoteca being weaker fliers than the Tototeca and being children of Izpalolotl The Current ruler of the Yaotlan Monarchy is a man by the name of Necalli who is a descendant of Maza and the former ruler of Yaotlan. Necalli is respected, fair, and just however has an intimidating aura when sitting on his throne. It is known for being a floating city with grand templo’s sitting on top. ##### Common Races: Humans Tototeca Atlateca Camazoteca \pagebreakNum ### Lands of the East - Capuloctlan (Land of Wine) AKA The Xochimilco Federation #### Capital - Capuloctlan (Land of Wine) #### Leader - Itotia (Dance) There is Racial Harmony for the most part but there is a friendly rivalry between the Ozomalteca and the Atlateca. The five states of the Xochimilco Federation work together to keep the peace in the lands. However, if one state wants to change a ruling they must reach out to the other four branches and ask for permission for whatever they might need. The Federation is known for their vast fields and large farms where they make the drink of the gods, Pulque! ##### Common Races: Human Ozomalteca Tototeca Oceloteca ### Land of the West - Iztatlan (Lands of White) Yolihuani Dynasty #### Capital - (Coaxoch) #### Leader - Yolihuani (Source of Life) Coaxoch is a sun bathed city with aqueducts giving clean water from the rivers nearby. Festivals, plays and dances to honor the gods. Here the ruler Yolihuani I has maintained harmony with most of the races that you can find in the lands of Teotlalli. Iztatlan is a country that is ruled by Tlatoani Yolihuani VIII and rules with no feathered headdress on rather with one quetzal feather in his hair. He wanders the streets of the capital of Iztatlan as would a commoner. He is a descendant of Quetzalcoatl and possesses the wisdom of his godly grandfather. The relationships between all the races are usually harmonial however The Oceloteca and the Cipateca are not well liked and are at best tolerated. Yolihuani the VIII is a just and fair ruler of Iztatlan. Him being a descendant of Quetzalcoatl it gave him the knowledge and skills to make the races live in harmony. The City of Coaxoch is known for their citizens having colorful snakes as pets as well as their expansive libraries. ##### Common Races: Humans Quetzalteca Ozomalteca Atlateca \pagebreakNum # Factions ## The Feathered Diciples *“Who better than to keep knowledge and to maintain balance than The Feathered Disciples, Students of Quetzalcoatl”* Keepers of knowledge and teachers in the Calmecac and Tepozcalli. The Feathered Disciples were founded at first to protect the Tlatoani in the lands of the west though they began to branch out to teach commoners art and literature. They believe that strength comes with knowledge and there are a few generals that are affiliated with the Feathered Disciples for their tactics. They are stationed in the IIztatlan capital of Coaxoch though they operate all over the continent of Teotlalli. Their goal in Teotlalli is to keep the balance and to stop wars from erupting. ## The Rogues of the Smoking Mirror Lurking under the shadows of a large pecan tree is a rogue of the smoking mirror awakened through night and seeing the darkness through the mirror of obsidian he began to question the legitimacy of the Taltoani. The Rogues of the Smoking Mirror are a faction of humans and Oceloteca who do work under the leader of the North. They were founded after a jealous rivalry between brothers for the title of Tlatoani after one brother was bestowed the title the other brother, Yayauhqui became enraged though he was patient and bided his time. Soon amassed a small gathering and overthrew the tlatoani and declared himself the true Tlatoani; however, the other Tlatoani would grow suspicious so Yayauhqui set up a puppet ruler. Though there was a leader the brother was really in charge. Their goal is to please their father Tezcatlipoca, and to put him as the rightful owner of the Sun. ## The Sons of the Hummingbird Founded after the conquest of Huitzauhqui, Maza took a few of the Zealots and offered them a proposal. They can continue to worship Huitzilopochtli if they serve the people first before their gods. Just as Huitzilopochtli cared about his children his warriors will do the same. The individual agreed and founded the mercenary guild named “Sons of the Hummingbird.” The Sons of the Hummingbird are a band of mercenaries under the leadership of one of Maza’s children. It was a society of people who wanted to fight but had no way of climbing through the ranks because of their standing in society so many people in the lands of the South would join the Sons of the Hummingbird. Their goal is to protect the people from those who would dare take advantage of others. Just as Huitzilopochtli fought with his sister Malinalxochitl who preyed on his subjects in the night. ## The Flayed Monks The Flayed Monks are ones who protect nature from those who would want to harm it. They work alongside the Amoxoaque and they give them guidance on the native forests. The flawed monks act as nature's first line of defense. Their goal is to serve the will of Xipe Totec and to bring blood to grow Xipe Totec’s greatest creation, The Eztli xochitl To finally satisfy Cipactli for the flower will supply it with infinite amounts of blood or at least that is what is believed. \pagebreakNum # Daily Life in Teotlalli In the continent of Teotlalli every nation was their own way of life but for the most part they have a lot of similarities. Any character can be familiar with the traditions and customs of Teotlalli. ## Currency For the nations of Teotlalli the Huey Tlatoani (Translated to Great Speaker) has set out a standardized currency for the citizens to follow. Dark Sun Cocoa Beans are used as Copper pieces, corn kernels are used as silver pieces, little chipped hoe blades were worth a gold piece, and weaved tapestries were worth a platinum piece. Though there was an established currency, merchants and traders haggled and bartered for their goods. ## Technologies Though the societies were primitive the god Quetzalcoatl came down as a human and taught them on how to Efficiently use the tools that were brought down from the other worlds. from hammers to hoes to shovels Quetzalcoatl show the people of Teotlalli on how to better tend the land. Soon in time the people had basic plumbing with the advancement of aqueducts so now they can get clean water. Farming was greatly expanded and had little farming islands called Chinampas made from mud, silt and decomposing food scraps. As for weaponry not much has been expanded since going to war with one another seemed counterintuitive and counter productive to the race of humans. Though you can see a chart with all the available weapons in chapter 5. \pagebreakNum # Gods Here we meet some of the gods of Teotlalli the main four have been here since their creation from Ometeotl. They come in various appearances and tend to sometimes blend in with society and have favored plants that they would like to live their lives. ##### Disclaimer If you don't see them described do not worry I will get to them in an update.
# The Four Tezcatlipoca ## Quetzalcoatl One of the most well known of the gods, he is the god of the west, arts and crafts, and wind. The most calm of all the aztec gods he only asks for serpents and butterflies to be sacrificed in his name. Human hearts though he does appreciate the thought it is considered taboo to sacrifice a human in his name. He played a major role in guiding the pantheon of gods to the new world they call Teotlalli and used his power of the winds to make the lifeless planet to spin in circles to give the planet winds to erode the high mountains that were there. Although his relationship with tezcatlipoca his brother, is still very hostile towards each other. ## Tezcatlipoca God to the North, Tezcatlipoca is the god of the night sky , ancestral memory, and in some cases time. He is a patron god to the Oceloteca in the land of Teotlalli. He is responsible for the destruction of the second 3rd and 4th Suns. The second due to a rivalry with Quetzalcoatl, the third due to him capturing the heart of Xochiquetzal and making Tlaloc very upset which caused a rain of fire and burned all the people of the Third world and a fourth making Chalchiuhtlicue cry blood for 52 years. Needless to say he's not very popular with the other gods. Though there are some people who shout his name in the land of Teotlalli. ## Huitzilopochtli God to the South, he is the Aztec god of war. known to lead his people to do horrific Deeds such as having his priests ask for a man's daughter in marriage and soon to flay her skin and make a young boy wear it. However after the fall of the fifth world and him being resurrected he has changed in a sense. He has grown more calm yet calculated and has begun to develop a relationship with the young goddess Piciltonatl. He now teaches her the ways of being a sun and to look after the people. \columnbreak ## Xipe Totec God to the East, Xipe Totec is god of spring, and patron god of seeds, planting, metalworkers and gemstone workers. Despite his horrifying appearance he is a neutral god and quite approachable. Though sacrifices in his name were inhumane they have been toned down to bloodletting and soaking the fields in blood to give the plants nutrients to grow faster and stronger. His image can be found in almost every blacksmith and jewelry shop. \pagebreakNum # Other Major Gods ## Chantico, Mother of the Hearth Goddess of the Family hearth and brings wealth and stability to homes. Chantico helps homes from thieves. She is shown to be wearing a crown of cactus thorns and red snakes. She was once a girl in a village that ate paprika during a fast and was turned into a dog. Unable to have a child She went to Quetzalcoatl and asked for a child. Moved by this Quetzalcoatl gave Chimalma a stone and told her to swallow it. She did and became pregnant. Tezcaltipoca found about this and became enraged and sent his spirits to kill Chimalma. Chimalma hid and gave birth to Topiltzin and soon became a king. ## Cihuacoatl, The Snake Woman She helped Quetzalcoatl grind the bones of humanity and spilled his blood to give Humanity life. She is also the mother of Mixcoatl who was lost during a crossroads while looking for her lost child however, she would only find a sacrificial knife. ## Coatlicue, Skirt of Snakes Mother of Huitzilopochtli and Mother Nature incarnate she is arguably the mother of Quetzalcoatl and Xolotl but soon after they were born her daughter Coyolxauhqui and four hundred sons severed her head and it turned into two fiery serpents. Soon after Huitzilopchtli came out of Coatlicue and killed Coyolxauhqui and his 400 other brothers. \columnbreak ## Coyolxauhqui, The Vengeful Moon Arguably Huitzilopochtli’s only sister Coyolxauhqui is the only daughter of Coatlicue out of 400 of her brothers. She was defeated when Huitzilopochtli came out of Coatlicue’s womb when Coyoxauhqui decapitated her mother. Her head became the moon and her brothers became the stars of the 5th world. In Teotlalli She is a mentor to the new moon god. She is loosely related to Tezcatlipoca being that he can shape-shift into a coyote or a human at will. ## Ehecatl Loosely close to Quetzalcoatl Ehecatl is the god of the Winds and gathers spirits from the recently deceased to take to Mictlan for their Journey. ## Huehuecoyotl, The Old Coyote Also known as the Ancient Drum, Huehuecoyotl is the trickster god of storytelling, music, dance and merriment. She is known to have jaguar claws and wings shaped of chipped obsidian and is the mother of the Camazoteca. ## Itztlacoluihqui, The Curved Obsidian Itztlacoliuhqui is the god of frost. He also represents matter in its lifeless state. The creation of this god appeared in the Aztec myth of creation. Tonatiuh, the sun god, demanded obedience and sacrifice from the other gods before he will move. Enraged at his arrogance, the god of dawn and the planet Venus, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, shoots an arrow at the sun. However, the dart misses its mark and the sun throws his own back at the morning star, piercing the Lord of Dawn through the head. At this moment, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli is transformed into the god of obsidian stone and coldness, Itztlacoliuhqui. \pagebreakNum ## Ixtlilton He is the god of medicine and healing and therefore was often alluded to as the brother of Macuilxochitl, the god of well-being or good luck. However, due to the fifth world ending not all plants survived luckily the god Xochipilli saved some mayahuel seeds and planted them in the new world. In Teotlalli she remains as a Maguey plant and the juice is harvested into a brew called pulque. ## Metztli Metztli was one of the goddesses of the moon, the night, and farmers. She or they were probably the same deity as Yohaulticetl and Coyolxauhqui and the male moon god Tecciztecatl; like the latter, she feared the Sun because she feared its fire. Also referred to as the lowly god of worms who failed to sacrifice himself to become the Sun, and became the Moon instead, his face darkened by a rabbit. ## Mictēcacihuātl, Lady of the Dead Queen of Mictlān, the underworld, ruling over the afterlife with Mictlāntēcutli, another deity who is her husband. Her role is to watch over the bones of the dead and preside over the ancient festivals of the dead. These festivals evolved from Aztec traditions into the modern Day of the Dead after synthesis with Spanish traditions. She now presides over the contemporary festival as well. She is known as the "Lady of the Dead", since it is believed that she was born, then sacrificed as an infant. Mictēcacihuātl was represented with a flayed body and with jaw agape to swallow the stars during the day. ## Mictlantecuhtli, Lord of the Dead God of the Underworld and Death, Mictlantecuhtli stays in the Underworld with his wife Mictēcacihuātl. Ruling over the dead he was the one who tricked Quetzalcoatl many times when he was retrieving the bones of the dead and sent his helpers to dig a pitfall trap and Quetzalcoatl fell and was left unconscious. Meanwhile he sent quail and eagles to gnaw on the bones. When Quetzalcoatl woke up he took the broken bones and had a goddess break them down and spilt his blood. ## Mixcoatl, The Cloud Serpent Mixcoatl, 'Cloud Serpent,' was a Mesoamerican god of hunting, the Milky Way and the stars and heavens in general. As well as being a pulque god like his wife, he’s the deity of intoxication by peyote, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and psychotropic herbs such as datura (jimson weed), morning glory, and marijuana. These plants were used in healing, fortune telling, shamanic magic, and public religious ceremonies, hopefully also to tranquilize sacrificial victims and enhance the sacramental nature of the ritual. In Teotlalli he is worshipped openly in the lands of the west and east. The Southern Lands outlaw him however the Sons of the Hummingbirds do used some herbs and pray to him to keep them from getting sick. ## Piltzintecuhtli, the Young Prince Piltzintecuhtli was a god of the rising sun, healing, and visions, associated with Tōnatiuh. The name means "the Young Prince". It may have been another name for Tōnatiuh, but he is also mentioned as a possibly unique individual, the husband of Xōchiquetzal. He was the lord of the third hour of the night. Piltzintecuhtli was said to be the son of Oxomoco and Cipactonal (the first man and woman that were created) and was seen as a protector of children. He was identified as the Youthful Sun. \pagebreakNum ## Tecciztecatl, The Arrogant Moon Tecciztecatl (or Tecuciztecatl), the Old Moon God, represents the male aspect of the moon. Tecciztecatl is the son of Tláloc and Chalchihuitlicue. In the beginning of the current world, the gods gathered at Teotihuacán and asked "Who will take on the charge of illuminating the One World?" The beautiful and wealthy Tecciztecatl volunteered. When the moment arrived to complete the necessary rituals by throwing himself into the sacrificial fire, he became scared. The gods passed the opportunity to the sickly and blistered Nanahuatzin . She went and became the sun. Ashamed, Tecciztecatl followed her to become another sun. However, the gods threw a rabbit at him to dim his radiance. This is how the Fifth Sun started and how Tecciztecatl became the moon. Tecciztecatl is often pictured carrying a large, white seashell, representing the moon. He is also called "he who comes from the land of the sea-slug shell." ## Tepēyōllōtl In Aztec mythology, Tepēyōllōtl "heart of the mountains" is the god of earthquakes, echoes and jaguars. He is the god of the Eighth Hour of the Night, and is depicted as a jaguar leaping towards the sun. ## Tlaloc, The Swirling Storm Tlaloc is the God of rain and formerly the 3rd Sun he is responsible for all storms in Teotlalli and the people of Teotlalli have decided to harness some of his power Tlaloc and his wife Chalchiuhtlicue saw this and decided to make them their children and gave them a fraction of their power to control the weather to reasonable lengths. However, asking their father to make it rain or to make a tornado is seen as unethical and selfish. Though it may bother Tlaloc, Chalchiuhtlicue is always happy to lend a helping hand to her children. ## Tlazōlteōtl, The Purifier In Aztec mythology, Tlazolteotl is a deity of vice, purification, steam baths, lust, filth, and a patroness of adulterers. She is known by three names, Tlahēlcuāni ("she who eats tlahēlli or filthy excrescence") and Tlazōlmiquiztli ("the death caused by lust"), and Ixcuina or Ixcuinan (Huastec: Ix Cuinim, Deity of Cotton), the latter of which refers to a quadripartite association of four sister deities. \columnbreak ## Tonatiuh, Arrogant Sun Tonatiuh ("Movement of the Sun") was an Aztec sun deity of the daytime sky and ruled the cardinal direction of east. According to Aztec Mythology, Tonatiuh was known as "The Fifth Sun" and was given a calendar name of naui olin, which means "4 Movement". Represented as a fierce and warlike god, he is first seen in Early Postclassic art of the Pre-Columbian civilization known as the Toltec. Tonatiuh's symbolic association with the eagle alludes to the Aztec belief of his journey as the present sun, travelling across the sky each day, where he descended in the west and ascended in the east. It was thought that his journey was sustained by the daily sacrifice of humans. His Nahuatl name can also be translated to "He Who Goes Forth Shining" or "He Who Makes The Day." Tonatiuh was thought to be the central deity on the Aztec Calendar Stone but is no longer identified as such. In Toltec culture, Tonatiuh is often associated with Quetzalcoatl in his manifestation as the morning star aspect of the planet Venus. ## Xiuhtecuhtli, the Turquoise Lord Also known as the Lord of Fire Xuihtecuhtli is the god of fire, heat and volcanoes. Despite his fiery portfolio Xiuhtecuhtli he is also known to be the personification of Heat during the cold, Light in the darkness, and food during famine. In the homes of Teotlalli almost every building be it a temple, a house, or at the marketplace there is always a lasting flame to honor Xiuhtecuhtli for his warm kindness. He is also a patron god to merchants. ## Xochipilli, The Flower Prince Xōchipilli is the god of art, dance, flowers, and song in Aztec mythology. As the patron of writing and painting. His twin sister is Xōchiquetzal. Xōchipilli has also been interpreted as the patron of both homosexuals and male prostitutes, a role possibly resulting from his being absorbed from the Toltec civilization. He, among other gods, is depicted wearing a talisman known as an oyohualli, which was a teardrop-shaped pendant crafted out of mother-of-pearl. ## Xochiquetzal, The Feathered Woman Xochiquetzal , also called Ichpochtli meaning "maiden", was a goddess associated with concepts of fertility, beauty, and female sexual power, serving as a protector of young mothers and a patroness of pregnancy, childbirth, and the crafts practiced by women such as weaving and embroidery. \pagebreakNum ## Xolotl, The Black Canine Xolotl is a god of fire and lightning and death. He was also associated with the sunset and would guard the Sun as it traveled through the underworld every night. Dogs were associated with Xolotl. This deity and a dog were believed to lead the soul on its journey to the underworld. He was commonly depicted as a monstrous dog. He was also god of twins, monsters, misfortune, sickness, and deformities. Xolotl is the canine brother and twin of Quetzalcoatl, the pair being sons of the virgin Coatlicue. He is the dark personification of Venus, the evening star, and was associated with heavenly fire. ## Yacatcuhtli, The Traveling Merchant Yacatecuhtli was the patron god of commerce and travelers, especially business travelers. His symbol is a bundle of sticks. Merchants carry an uttal cane as they move from village to village peddling their wares, and at night-time would tie them together into a neat bundle before sprinkling them with blood from their ears. It was believed that this ritual in Yacatecuhtli's honor would guarantee success in future business ventures, not to mention protection from vicious beasts and robbers on their journeys. His name means "lord of the nose." ## Zacatzontli, Lord of the Roads Zacatzontli is the god of day road, he has an eagle as sun's symbol guide. He holds in his left hand a staff and his right hand supports a backpack full of quetzal birds. He can be a protector of merchants. He also helps travellers making him like Jokõjin and Jizu in Japanese mythology. One of the odd things about Zacatzontli is that he doesn't have a headdress, only a feather. His name could mean Lord of the Road. In Teotlalli many adventurer’s pray to him for safe travels and to not be ambushed by Chichimeca Barbarians. \pagebreakNum # Myths and Legends ## The Four Tezcatlipoca In the beginning, The being known as Ometeotl created itself and gave birth to four sons, the Tezcatlipocas of the East, North, South, and West. Their names were Tezcatlipoca, Xipe Totec, Huitzilopochtli and Quetzalcoatl. Shortly after their birth They tried to create people but there was something lurking in the cosmic Waters below and it was named Cipactli. So Tezcatlipoca came up with a plan to lure it out with his foot and Cipactli took the bait then four gods trapped Cipactli and strangled it to death. However; it was only mostly dead. Cipactli was still moving and wanted blood and so the gods promised Cipactli to give it blood. After the defeat of cipactli they began to create the first sun to do this they lit up a pyre and Tezcatlipoca wanting to be the first Sun tied the sun around his waist, flew up to the heavens and became the first sun. There was one problem however, Tezcatlipoca could only produce half a sun. Over time however Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl start to have a rivalry so Quetzalcoatl grabs a club and knocks Tezcatlipoca out of the sky and into the water. Tezcatlipoca then emerges from the ocean as a giant jaguar and kills his people in a fit of rage. Afterwards Quetzalcoatl became the sun and although he was doing a good job the humans of the second world became rude and disrespectful and they offended Tezcatlipoca and he turned them into monkeys. This is where the Ozomalteca were born. Quetzalcoatl, upset that the humans were turned into monkeys, blows them off in a hurricane and drifts into space. Tlaloc the god of rain becomes the third sun and does a good job giving people much more rain and making the soil fertile but Tezcatlipoca seduces Tlaloc’s wife Xochiquetzal and becomes so upset that he will not let it rain. The people plead and beg for Tlaloc to give them rain angered Tlaloc unleashed a rain of fire and burnt all of his people into a crisp. The Next sun was Tlaloc’s new wife Chalchiuhtlicue and was doing a good job of being the sun and loved her people as if a mother loved her children however Tezcatlipoca grew jealous of Chalchiuhtlicue and accused her of showing false love this hurt Chalchiuhtlicue greatly and cried blood for 52 years. Quetzalcoatl, frustrated to remake humanity, goes to Mictlan and meets with Mictlantecuhtli, the lord of the dead. Mictlantecuhtli challenges Quetzalcoatl to play his conch horn however when Quetzalcoatl went in to blow the horn there was no sound. Mictlantecuhtli had played a trick on him. Quetzalcoatl called upon bees to help him produce sounds and ants to make holes and played a note. Mictlantecuhtli shocked gave Quezalcoatl the bones of humanity. On his way up to the earth he tripped and broke the bones. However, he picked them back up and reached the earth then dipped the bones in his blood. The peoples skin began to form and now was to assign the new sun but as they were going to do so Huitzilopochtli was missing. Quetzalcoatl searched and saw Huitzilopochtli running from something dark. It was his sister Coyoxiuahqui looking to kill her brother. As for the new world of the 6th sun it is told below... \pagebreakNum ## A World Reborn (Scenario 1) After Huitzilopochtli was defeated by his sister Coyolxauhqui, the sun began to fade. The people of the 5th world panicked and began to sacrifice their own people; even their children. Quetzalcoatl, Xipe Totec and Tezcatlipoca retrieved Huitzilopochtli’s head from Coyolxauhqui and made sure to revive him at a later time. The land started to shake violently, Cipactli had been reborn and began to devour every single living thing from humans to animals even the sky itself. Cipactli began to grow larger by the second and the gods decided that the world was far from saving so they left the old world and left to seek out to find a new one. They found a world that was empty; land was there and water was plentiful. The gods began to work and made the first new humans who were like the previous humans since the gods thought they were perfect. They began to work as they shaped the land and made its people. After the plants and rivers were formed they began to make the sun but who would be the sun next but no one wanted to take the position so the 3 gods made a new god that would take up the important role of deity of the sun and they named her Tlālticpactlahuilli meaning “New Dawn.” So now Tlālticpactlahuilli is now the 6th sun and the 1st sun of the new world and was a young goddess who saw the world as something to run around like a child with a tree. ## A World Reborn (Scenario 2) ## The Birth of the Moon and the Stars After a few years Tlālticpactlahuilli began to feel as if he was the only one to own the sky. She was lonely so she went to find some friends there in Teotlalli and she found children birthed from noble families. Tlālticpactlahuilli ran through the field with the children and asked if they wanted to play hide and seek; the children agreed. So they hid in the bushes, in the tree, down in the undergrowth, by the river, they hid anywhere they could. Tlālticpactlahuilli began her search and after she found them and tagged them she left a mark on where they were tagged. One by one she found more and more children but she had to go back home in the sky. She said farewell and raced towards the sky. After a few decades have passed the children have become old and have passed on but instead of going to the afterlife to live with Mictlan they went towards the heavens. Tlālticpactlahuilli was waiting all this time. She assigned ev’ry soul to be a star in the night sky. As for who was going to be the moon She assigned a girl now a woman to be the new moon. The goddesses name was Yancuimetztli. So now when you look up at the night sky of Teotlalli you can hear all the children playing up in the night sky, can you see all of them? \pagebreakNum ## Afterlife When a soul dies they aren’t sent to a plane that corresponds to their alignment. Instead in this world they are sent to a few worlds. One is Mictlan where Mictlantecuhtli and his wife watch over the souls of the dead. The other is Tlacopan where all the Atlateca and those who have drowned go to rest. It is said to be a paradise filled with every flower and a sparkling river. The rest of the souls go to the Young Sun which a few things will happen. If she likes you she will welcome you into her circle where the sun will ring around the planet. If she doesn’t like you she will send you back as a bug for Huitzilpochtli’s hummingbirds to consume until the end of days. ## Oxomoco and Cipactonal (Beginnings of the Sun) In the beginning of the new world the gods came together and created New Gods. The first was a god named Cipactonal and the goddess named Oxomoco and they roamed the land of Teotlalli. Soon after they were born and after they grew begot a son named Piltzintecuhtli And married a maiden of Xochiquetzal. Finally they begot a child of their own and named him Tlālticpactlahuilli. He grew and grew and learned the ways of nature and when he became the right age of 16 the gods visited him and offered him to be the Sun. He thought about the responsibility of being the sixth sun of the new world. He took a deep breath and mustard all his courage and jumped into the pyre he burned for one hour and then rose to the sky as a new Sun.
