Cartographer
Experts at painting the bigger picture, Cartographers have perfected the art and science of modeling and translating the complex reality around them onto a single piece of parchment. Experienced navigators and just as effective adventurers, Artificers who choose this specialty lead their company into the unknown in confidence.
Many explorers owe Cartographers their life as without their spatial awareness and navigational expertise, countless parties would have been erased from the Material Plane.
Tool Proficiency
Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with cartographer's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other artisan's tools of your choice.
Cartographer Spells
Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Cartographer Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Arcane Atlas
By 3rd level, endless hours pouring over your maps and your prowess of the arcane has lead you to create a magically imbued atlas. Your atlas is a leather-bound tome with 100 vellum pages suited for cartography.
While traveling, you can spend your time crafting a map in one of the pages of your atlas. You can do this while traveling at a normal pace and you are still alert to danger while scribing. While crafting a map, it takes a quarter of the time it would normally take to complete it.
Because your atlas is a product of artifice, you can utter an arcane incantation to access its true power. As an action, you can augment your atlas. You can do this a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier per long rest. You may only receive the benefit of one augmentation at a time. Upon activation, you can choose any of the following benefits to take effect:
Fill in the Blank: A magical pulse emanates from your atlas. For 6 hours, an accurate map of the area within 1 mile of you is imprinted upon one of the pages in your atlas. This map details natural features as well as man made structures such as buildings although the map doesn't display the interior map of buildings.
While traveling, your group cannot become lost by nonmagical means and you do not suffer the passive perception penalty for traveling at a fast pace. This map moves with you while you are traveling. You may spend another charge of your Arcane Atlas to magically imprint the map as you see it permanently upon the page. Magically imprinting the map in your atlas stops this effect early.
Spatial Awareness: You wave your hand over a page of your atlas and a series of dots appear upon the page. These dots indicate creatures of small size and larger, if you are familiar with the creature their name as you know it will appear under their corresponding dot, they will simply show up as a dot otherwise. The atlas will track the movement of every creature within 60 feet of you for 5 minutes. While this is active, you are made aware of all creatures hidden from your view within range and your allies within 30 feet of you cannot be surprised. This augmentation can be used on a page with a map you have previously crafted inside your atlas to further help orientation.
Astral Projection: You imbue your atlas with the power of the cosmos to help with your travels. For one hour, a holographic map of the stars currently present in your sky is projected in a 5 foot sphere above the atlas. The projection grants the benefits of the Light spell. This effect lasts for an hour. Additionally, observing the star chart lets you know what month, day, and time of day it currently is. If the page you are using doesn't have a map, you may use another charge of your Arcane Atlas to magically imprint the star chart permanently upon the page, the star chart is sized down to fit the page.
If you lose your Arcane Atlas, you can spend 1 hour of uninterrupted work to create a replacement. This can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous atlas. The maps remain within the atlas if you die however the atlas loses its magical properties.
All-Seeing Eye
Also at 3rd level, you recognize the intricate details of the scene around you. Using your keen senses to help yourself and those around you, you gain the following benefits:
- On your turn, you may take the Help or Search action as a bonus action.
- When you make a Wisdom (Perception) check, you may use your Intelligence modifier, instead of your Wisdom modifier.
Mental Map
Starting at 5th level, you have developed the ability to retain obscene amounts of information about your surroundings. You can accurately recall the pathway which you've traveled and can accurately remember the attributes of the physical terrain you've traversed in the last 24 hours. You can spend an hour of uninterrupted work to depict this information in a map within your atlas.
Additionally, while you have your Arcane Atlas on your person, you can communicate telepathically with anyone carrying an item bearing one of your artificer infusions as a bonus action. That person immediately becomes spatially aware of everything you are aware of.
Improved Arcane Atlas
At 9th level, you continue to push the limits of cartography and artifice. You have developed improved augmentations for your atlas.
- The range of Fill in the Blank has increased to a 5 mile radius. Additionally, a heat map indicating the presence of magical influence appears upon the projection. You do not know the specific location but the general area it is in. The heat map does not transfer to the permanent imprint.
- The duration of Spatial Awareness increases to 10 minutes. You may now use this augmentation on any of your crafted maps, you may choose any point upon the map and the same effects will occur allowing you to monitor activity of locations where you are not currently present. You must be on the same plane as the point selected for this to work.
- As an action, you may dismiss Astral Projection with a flurry of cosmic bursts. You may send up to 3 shooting stars to explode on any targets within 120 feet of you. Each target must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d8 radiant damage per star and be blinded until the end of their next turn.
Cartograph's Portal
At 15th level, you can spend a charge of your Arcane Atlas and complete a minute long ritual requiring 50 gp, which the ritual consumes. This allows you and a number of willing creatures equal to half your Artificer level (rounded up) to instantly teleport to any location which is depicted in your atlas that you have physically been to in the last month. Each creature may touch a point on the map and they will be instantly teleported to the selected location. You can only teleport to a location on the same plane as you.
