The Owl Patron
You have made a pact with the Owl, the patron of linguistic knowledge. In avian form, your patron flies through the Astral Plane, reminding creatures to continue their lessons. In return for your patron’s gifts, you wander the world to create connections between cultures.
Expanded Spell List
The Owl lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
The Owl Expanded Spells
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
1st | Dissonant Whispers, Feather Fall |
2nd | Magic Mouth, Skywrite |
3rd | Sending, Speak with Animals |
4th | Charm Monster, Locate Creature |
5th | Commune, Rary’s Telepathic Bond |
Language Tree
At 1st level, you learn one language of your choice. You learn another language of your choice at 6th and 14th levels.
Lesson Streak
At 1st level, you benefit from maintaining a Lesson Streak. As a bonus action, you can begin a Lesson that lasts for 1 minute with a Streak that starts at 1. At the end of your turn, if you have dealt damage to a creature with an attack, the Streak increases by 1, up to a maximum equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). The Streak resets to 1 at the end of the duration.
On each of your turns, when you deal damage with an attack, you can re-roll your damage dice a number of times equal to your Streak and use the new result. You can re-roll different damage dice, or re-roll the same damage die multiple times.
You can use this feature once at 1st level, and twice at 10th level. You regain any expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Pact Boon: Pact of the Quill
At 3rd level, a character dedicated to the Owl can select this option instead of one of the warlock’s existing Pact Boon options.
You receive a quill made from a feather from the Owl’s wings. It hums with a fraction of the patron’s vast collection of knowledge. When you gain this feature, you learn a 1st level spell of your choice from the wizard’s spell list. On your adventures, you can replace your chosen spell with another one. When you find a wizard spell of 1st level or higher, you can learn the spell using your quill if it is of a level for which you have spell slots, and you have the time to do so.
While the quill is on your person, you know the spell comprehend languages and can cast it as a ritual. The spell doesn’t count against your number of spells known.
Additionally, at the end of a long rest, you can choose one language you have understood before. You can read, speak, and write in that language until the end of your next long rest. If you choose the same language every day for 1 month, you permanently learn the language.
If you lose your quill, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement from the Owl. The ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and it destroys the previous quill. The quill crumbles to ash when you die.
Health Shield
At 6th level, your patron grants you power to shield yourself and others from damage. When a creature you can see within 30 feet is hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to add a bonus to its AC, including against the triggering attack. The bonus is equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of +1), and lasts until the end of the target’s next turn
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Language Barrier
Starting at 10th level, you naturally commune in multiple languages at once. You have resistance to psychic damage, and you have proficiency with Intelligence saving throws.
Additionally, if a creature attempts to read your mind, it must make an Intelligence saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. On a failure, it fails to read your mind and takes psychic damage equal to 1d8 for each warlock level you have.
Duolingo Push
At 14th level, you are charged by your patron with reminding creatures to continue their lessons. As a bonus action, choose a creature you can see within 60 feet. For the next minute, you can use a bonus action to teleport to an unoccupied space within 10 feet of the target. Each time you teleport, you have advantage on your next attack roll made against it until the end of your turn.
Each time you teleport, you can also choose to frighten the target. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or it becomes frightened of you until the start of your next turn.
You must complete a long rest before you can use this feature again.

The Owl patron comes with new eldritch invocations. If an invocation has a prerequisite, you must meet them to learn it.
